Hello, I’m Dennis Alvarez, PsyD.
I believe counseling should both encourage and challenge individuals to move toward their fullest potential by addressing the mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of their lives. I hold a Doctorate in Psychology and a post-graduate diploma in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I am a licensed psychotherapist with experience across hospital, treatment, and private-practice settings. I provide individual and group therapy as well as comprehensive psychological assessments to adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relational distress, and substance abuse issues.
I use an integrative approach to treatment. I utilize a variety of modalities, including CBT, Individual/Adlerian psychology, and Neurofeedback, to help clients manage or alleviate their symptoms. My doctoral dissertation focused on the physical and psychological impact of trauma, further shaping my approach to trauma-focused care.
I am also the author of When Heaven Was Silent: Integrating Psychology and Theology in the Garden of Gethsemane, which explores the experience of mental suffering through both clinical and historical perspectives.

The Helper's Club - Women's Support Group
Houston Neurotherapy is sponsoring The Helper’s Club.... a support group for women that offers a safe environment to share and process feelings related to stress and the complexities of womanhood.
