Hello, I am Denise M. Filer MSW, LCSW-S I have been a therapist for almost 30 years. I use an eclectic approach. People do not need the same approaches and a combination of them is what I feel benefits the client. I believe that narrative therapy is a great start. Tell me your story and we will then define together what will work for you. I find that these approaches work well for most people. DBT, CBT, Solution focused culturally aware, strength-based, motivational, and mindfulness.
I ask what they would like to accomplish as a goal in therapy. I make them aware they are in charge of their therapy and goals. We can set them together if they need guidance, but I leave that up to them. I want my client to feel empowered.
Often people will ask or say I don't know what to tell you what you want to know. I tell them I go where you want and it does not have to be in order you can go where you need to in your story.
