The Counseling Center of Denton (CCD) has been providing community-based counseling services to individuals, couples, families, and groups since May of 1990 with the mission to provide affordable mental health services to assist clients in achieving maximum personal growth.

Trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I believe it is important to identify your counseling goals and issues and to tailor therapy to your needs. Then as we progress in therapy we can add new goals as they come up. I always want to be sure you are getting what you need in your therapy experience. It is very important to me that my clients feel that the therapy environment is safe and productive and that you feel that you are a part of the therapy process.

As a parent of four children I understand that parenting can be difficult and at times frustrating. I want to help parents find the joys in raising children and help them feel successful as caregivers. I am kind, compassionate, and honest.

My goal is to build self-esteem and to create a sense of empowerment in each person with whom I work. My work is with all ages through various modalities, including play therapy, games, crafts, and traditional counseling techniques. Children and adolescents are guided to develop effective techniques for navigating the issues and concerns that are encountered during the developmental and formative years. Similarly, I work with adults in showing how to work through the various obstacles and difficulties - both internal and external - that are encountered throughout life.

I have been in private practice since 2002 and since 2000 as a school counselor. As an ex-military dependent, I understand our diverse society and the stressors and positive influences around us.

Finding answers to many of life's problems is difficult. I have found that for some, it is difficult because they are asking the wrong questions. Answering the question, "Why?" can be helpful, sometimes in figuring out how a troubling situation occurred. Why something happens, however, does not always give a clear direction towards solving a problem. "How?" something happened and "What?" can be done to promote positive change can be much more useful in resolving an otherwise troubling situation.
