Deeba Khumar-Chadha has a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision. Deeba is Licensed as a Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Virginia and will be facilitating the counseling session using predominantly Client Centered, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Interpersonal therapy and Solution Focused therapy. The majority of Deeba’s experience is working with adults and adolescents with concerns regarding depression, anxiety, postpartum depression, self-esteem, and career counseling.
Deeba’s therapeutic style involves empathetic listening, encouragement, and establishing trust with patients that helps them to share their feelings. Deeba uses primarily Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT) which is based on the assumption that people experience problems because of their maladaptive patterns of thinking.
Therefore, the objective of therapy is to change these maladaptive/unhealthy thought patterns into more adaptive/healthy thought patterns using various CBT techniques like cognitive restructuring and activity scheduling. Deeba also incorporates psychoeducation and provides relevant resources to better understand and cope with ongoing symptoms.
