I never cease to be amazed at the strengths my clients show when tackling challenges, experiencing distressing emotions, or recalling upsetting memories. I would like to help you see and develop those strengths in yourself. Working together, we will find ways for you to use your strengths to make the changes you desire in your life. I work well with a variety of issues but feel I can be most helpful to those who have histories of trauma and abuse, individuals who struggle with coping with emotions, and people whose lives have been significantly impacted by mood or anxiety disorders.
Addressing difficult issues or upsetting memories in therapy takes time. Building a postive, supportive relationship with your therapist is key. I believe that we must manage the pace of therapy together, routinely addressing how you are feeling about the process along the way. I strive to encourage, but not push.
I have been in private practice for over fifteen years and have prior experience working in community mental health, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, and outpatient clinics for substance abuse treatment. My wide range of experience allows me to be comfortable working with challenging situations and clients with multiple issues/symptoms.
