My desire is for clients to feel hope and connection. I believe there are times when folks lack tools to get on track after being derailed by life. Healing starts within the therapeutic relationship! My job is to help you on your journey in working toward a healthy outlook and success in your life. Working with those dealing with grief & loss issues, trauma, and relationship struggles are my "ideal" clients. I'm here if you need someone who cares! I am also an associate professor at Liberty University in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program teaching students the clinical skills they need to succeed in the counseling field.

I am EMDR Certified & a Consultant (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing). I have seen clients become released from traumatic pasts using EMDR - it allows for true healing from trauma. Using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) helps eliminates shame! EFT is present-focused, non-blaming & client-centered approach for both individuals & couples.

One of my areas of expertise is trauma and grief/loss. I completed my doctoral dissertation on adolescent grief. This research, along with my personal experience as a widow, is valuable in working with individuals who have lost someone they love.

I like to say that when trauma happens, it gets locked in the body. I use EMDR to unlock it and free you from the past. I will first help you learn tools to regulate your emotions, then we will address the trauma memory. It is liberating.
