Has it upset you when people say, "Everything happens for a reason?" I think a better way to think about it is: "We can survive and use everything." I see therapy as an emotional composting. Trauma needs to be transformed into wisdom. We often adapt by becoming anxious over-thinkers, people-pleasers or perfectionists. Do you prioritize other people’s needs over taking care of yourself? This leads to various addictive/numbing behaviors to cope. These patterns get reinforced and even rewarded by our stress junky culture. Eventually it lead to exhaustion, resentments and regret. Turning that around is challenging but therapy can help.
I'll help you reduce anxiety and develop new routines so you take better care of yourself, have better boundaries and healthier relationships. I work with straight, bisexual and lesbian women. I have been an out lesbian since 1986. I work with women recovering from addictions and from trauma. 12-Step friendly and supportive of spirituality as a resource.
I am someone who has survived trauma and the impact of addiction. Opening up to a therapist and circles of people who were also experiencing things I had was what saved me.
