Welcome. You have taken your first step towards healing and wellness by searching for a therapist. I have been working in mental health for many years and I am pleased to offer my experience and expertise to help you on your way towards health.
I offer a unique blend of longevity as a therapist as well as an integration of the latest trends in treatment. My own life experiences have included several challenging medical and family issues. Learning to deal with these effectively has expanded my awareness on many levels and has made me a more compassionate and creative therapist. I am very comfortable working with children, adolescents, families and stepfamilies, single adults, married couples and committed partners, and seniors.
The expectation in the counseling relationship is for honesty with a commitment of growth, healing, and self-discovery. My approach to counseling is that of person-centered and goal-oriented. My focus is to help clients determine his or her level of need and their commitment to developing the coping skills needed to improve upon their issues. I currently am a mental health and D&A counselor. My credentials include Certified Advanced Alcohol and a Drug Counselor and Licensed Master Social Worker.
My goal is to help people feel better and function better. Most people come for help because they don't feel well emotionally or they have problems in dealing with others. Work stress, family dynamics or even the inability to find a meaningful relationship are common in today's world. Together we explore new options. I belief that individuals go through life making the best decisions they can given the information they have. No one gets up in the morning and thinks, "today I will shoot myself in the foot," yet in hindsight some decisions could have been better.
Sometimes we find ourselves lost and need help getting back on the path to our best selves. Therapy can assist you on getting back on that path through collaborative self discovery. I believe people are the experts of their own experiences and together we can find and repair tools that are going to get you to where you want to go.

Therapist profiles can be overwhelming. You may feel like you have to know exactly what you need in order to find a therapist that addresses it. I want you to know that helping you learn what you need is part of therapy. Maybe all you know for sure is that you are emotionally suffering and would like help. My background is working with adoption (all forms), foster care, family loss, trauma, parenting, co-dependency, and more. However, I also help folks from all walks of life reduce their emotional suffering and acheive their goals. Whatever your needs are, I'm happy to see if I can help you suffer less and enjoy life more.
It is a difficult decision to begin therapy especially for adolescents and young adults. I feel that developing a relationship is essential because no one shares their personal thoughts with someone they don’t trust. I believe in short term, solution based therapy with specific goals and direction. Therapy is not magic and succeeds when the therapist and client are working for the same goal. I am a social worker who has worked with adolescents and their families for many years, primarily in the high school setting. I enjoy this population and realize how important it is to include parents in the process.
Marriage & Family Therapist Associate, LAMFT, MBA, PhD (c), BA
My perspective of therapy is that it is all about the client. These individuals seek real assistance for issues that are critical to them. Each client is individual. I customize a treatment plan to meet the client's need. Each client is unique and their issues are important to them. As a Therapist, true commitment to my client is essential to their progress. I believe that working with the client to accomplish their goals and going above and beyond is key. The ability to establish rapport and trust is essential to building a client-therapist relationship. There is no such thing as a little problem. Freedom is a phone call away.
