My perspective of therapy is that it is all about the client. These individuals seek real assistance for issues that are critical to them. Each client is individual. I customize a treatment plan to meet the client's need. Each client is unique and their issues are important to them. As a Therapist, true commitment to my client is essential to their progress. I believe that working with the client to accomplish their goals and going above and beyond is key. The ability to establish rapport and trust is essential to building a client-therapist
relationship
. There is no such thing as a little problem. Freedom is a phone call away.

concerns, women's issues, school and behavioral issues, family conflict, communication, non-directive and directive play therapy, filial therapy, and sand tray therapy.
Not currently taking new clients. I deeply value my relationships with clients and believe significant healing occurs in the context of a safe, supportive environment. I empower clients to look honestly at difficult issues and make the changes necessary to enhance their lives. I believe therapy is a collaborative effort where I help client's access inner strengths and resources and past barriers that are keeping you stuck in unproductive behavior patterns and unsatisfying relationships. The process of therapy often leads to greater self-awareness and self-acceptance, new ways of coping with life's challenges, and more fulfilling relationships.

My goal is to help people feel better and function better. Most people come for help because they don't feel well emotionally or they have problems in dealing with others. Work stress, family dynamics or even the inability to find a meaningful
relationship
are common in today's world. Together we explore new options. I belief that individuals go through life making the best decisions they can given the information they have. No one gets up in the morning and thinks, "today I will shoot myself in the foot," yet in hindsight some decisions could have been better.

I believe strongly in fostering a
relationship
that empowers my clients to overcome any obstacles they encounter.
Choosing to seek counseling is not a sign of weakness. It is an investment in your personal maintenance and development. Nobody is immune to the trials and tribulations of life as circumstances happen to us all. It is not easy being vulnerable and admitting that you need help. It takes courage and strength to do so. You matter too and it is important that you also show up for yourself. Whether you are the strong individual who feels pressured to hold it all together, the individual who feels as if everything is spiraling out of control, or the individual struggling to move on from your past, I am here for you.

My specialities include mood and anxiety disorders, chronic mental illness, LGBTQ+ issues, gender identity,
couples
work, family therapy, core strengthening and nurturance work, grief/bereavement, holistic healing, sexual abuse and trauma, attachment issues, adoption, spirituality, primary caregiver stress, EAP/work-related issues and end of life issues.
I believe every person has the ability to facilitate healthy changes and has the right to be free from emotional pain and trauma. My ideal client is a person who believes in one's readiness to change one's life and open to exploring one's capacity to change from within. The therapeutic
relationship
is unique and transactional, and it is imperative to have a safe, trusting and nurturing environment in which to do this transformational work. I highlight a person's strengths and build from the strongest foundation possible to create the happiest and healthiest life.

I am a clinical psychologist who specializes in individual and
couples
therapy. My primary areas of clinical experience are depression, anxiety, life transitions, womens' issues, and
couples
therapy. Each client is a unique individual who comes to therapy with a particular concern or problem which they wish to explore and amend. Therapy can give a client the needed support to translate feelings, thoughts, insights, and yearnings into coherent sense and meaning. Therapy is a process, not an event. As such, clients can progress and change at a pace and level of challenge that is comfortable, safe, and ongoing.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
