I am a therapist who does more than just nod and say "mmm hmm."
So, are we going to talk about feelings? Sure. And, I believe in a no bullshit approach to therapy. I will hold you accountable to create the change you want to see in your life. That change could be coping skills for anxiety, evidence-based treatment for intimacy challenges, or trauma work to alleviate depression symptoms. I bring body scans, breathing exercises, and humor to every session. I believe that simple fixes like mediation, time outside and moving your body are the best medicine.
Individual sessions are 60 minutes.

Hello, I am Jasmine Walker! I am a proud graduate of The University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work where I specialized in clinical social work with a focus on children and families. When I am not in the therapeutic space, I am very intentional about pouring into self through exercising, playing basketball, and traveling the world. I am seen by many as a social butterfly who enjoys meeting new people and trying new things. I've learned that to show up as my best for my clients, I first have to take care of self.

Life is unavoidably full of transitions, stressors, disappointments, and losses that create blocks to the life you want to lead. I provide a break from the busyness, to explore where you are and where you want to go. That path to change may include new ways of relating to relationships, work demands, past trauma or other external factors. Additionally, growth may be shifts in internal dialogues that lead to challenges, like anxiety and depression. Whatever your goals, my role is to hold a compassionate space to be curious about your needs, to connect your past to your present, and to find a way forward towards the change you desire.

As most of us have learned, life presents us with many opportunities for stress, anxiety and emotional turmoil. Sometimes we need professional support to help us navigate challenges in our life. Each of us is unique and therapeutic treatment must also change based on this quality. Therapy is simply a tool that can help you steer the course of your life to the best of your ability so that you can achieve your goals. I provide supportive therapy at a non-judgmental stance and hope that you will find me open and easy to talk to.

I do my best work with highly sensitive women who are looking to invite more clarity, calm, joy, and ease into their lives. My clients are often wanting to sort through deep questions and reconnect with their inner wisdom. Our work together helps them look inside and make sense of what feels like a tangled mess of emotions. Using feelings as feedback, we hold space for intense emotions and explore painful wounds, maladaptive behaviors, and limiting beliefs inflicted by those wounds.

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
