Gentlemen, it’s a recognized human tendency to get “stuck” in our lives. Here’s the truth; you are never “stuck” with your present circumstances. The Game of Life is a psychological and spiritual journey and winning at this game requires you to change your play and learn to think differently and do things in a new way. My work is to help men break out from being “stuck” in life, resigned to producing results that are disappointing to them and others.

I've been providing psychotherapy for twenty-nine years. I work with preteens, teens, and adults of all ages. I am passionate about this work and have helped many people change their lives for the better. I believe in a person's ability to make their life as full and rich as they want it to be. Therapy can help you get what you need and want in your relationships, work, and other areas of life. I am easy to talk to and bring a lot of warmth and caring to therapy. I sometimes use innovative approaches including walking in nature with clients, hypnotherapy, pet therapy, and writing/art therapy.

As a clinician, I am focused on helping clients find a life of meaning and value. Often times in our pain there is incredibly useful information about what is important to us. As humans, we have evolved to move away from physical pain, to escape it: and for most types of pain, those methods work! But for emotional pain, avoidance not only doesn’t get rid of our pain and suffering, it often amplifies it. In discovering how each individual client finds meaning in their lives, we ground ourselves in the willingness to walk toward our pain, rather than away from it. It is in this space that we find healing and meaningful change.

I have over a decade of experience working in the substance abuse field with military service members, as well as helping adolescent and young adult clients who may need help maneuvering through life’s obstacles and adversities.
I am passionate about helping others attain their emotional wellness using a person-centered approach, while also incorporating solution-focused, cognitive behavioral and narrative therapy techniques to give the client various options with which to learn from. I am empathic, compassionate, and have a candid personality, and I aim to help my client see that they are in control of their life. My motto is, “I am along for the journey to help my client maximize their potential, through self-understanding, patience, and self-love. Whatever the unknown is, we can tackle it together.”

I help patients find hope in adversity. I explore a patient's need for external validation and identify old, negative motivators used to inspire achievement-based goals. I teach self-care and self-regulating practices while modeling healthy attunement. Together, we explore conflict-avoidant behaviors and healthy dependency. Being a highly sensitive person is not a weakness but an empathic strength. I explore the guilt, shame, and fear that cause "analysis paralysis." I analyze unhealthy habits and teach clients to build trust and reconnect with a traumatic body that no longer trusts. You are the expert and I am your guide.

My diversity of practice includes school social work, military social work, and providing education and training services for social service agencies
Whether you're looking for support for yourself or someone else, this is an important first step in figuring out who you can trust. It's not a simple decision and reading a profile is only a slight glimpse into who I am as a provider. I get it. In a way you're taking a trust fall into the universe and you're hoping the right person is there to catch you so you don't thump to the ground. I'm far better at catching others before they fall than myself. Nicknamed "Crash Gordon" when I worked at FCPS, I was known for losing my balance occasionally but never losing track of a student, staff, or family need. Everyone is safe with me!

Therapy looks different for everyone, because everyone comes into therapy with different needs. In general, therapy works by us having lots of (often weekly, sometimes more often, just shy of an hour-long) conversations in which we get to know your mind and heart to help you find answers to what you are struggling with. To get to know you better, I will encourage you to share with me thoughts, emotions, images… everything that comes to your mind. Nothing is off limits, and the hardest or most awkward things to talk about can yield the biggest benefits.

You have spent years being the one everyone leans on. At work you perform. At home you manage everything. In relationships you hold back what you actually feel because it is easier than the fallout. And somewhere along the way, you stopped asking yourself what you need. I am Ledrea Taylor, LCSW. I work with women who are done performing strength and ready to actually feel it. I specialize in trauma, anxiety, emotional exhaustion, and relationship patterns that keep you stuck. I also work with couples and families across Maryland, Virginia, and DC through secure video sessions.

Since 2016, I’ve worked with clients impacted by trauma and PTSD, including supervised training with veterans and their families.
Whether you're a veteran, first responder, or someone living with trauma and PTSD, you’ve seen things most people can’t imagine — in war zones, on the job, or after disaster. Maybe now you feel numb, stuck in your head, or just worn out. It’s hard to relax, connect with others, or imagine feeling like yourself again. You’re not broken — you’re human. With the right support, you can feel better and reconnect with what matters, whether it’s old passions or new purpose. Starting therapy may be the hardest — and best — decision you make for your health and relationships.

As a psychologist, I have worked with veterans, survivors of abuse, & high-functioning adults who manage life well but feel disconnected, exhausted, or unsure of themselves.
You are strong, capable, and self-aware, which is exactly why it can be confusing to find yourself repeating patterns that leave you feeling depleted. You no longer feel like you. You wonder if you're the problem. And you are burned out from overgiving, struggling to say no, and feeling unseen. Part of you is ready for something different. To stop apologizing for who you are. To trust your instincts again and build relationships that feel steady rather than draining. You want to understand the invisible wounds that shaped these patterns so you can move forward with clarity, self-respect, and a stronger sense of direction
