Welcome. At various times in our lives we all end up feeling sad, angry, anxious, or lost. Sometimes we end up in unhealthy patterns: doubting our self-worth, obsessing about the past or the future, lashing out at others, or isolating ourselves. So many of our unhelpful behaviors protect us in the short-term, but leave long-term costs. I'm a clinical social worker and I provide help with these and other issues. The core of my training has been to meet you where you are--mentally and emotionally--and help you find effective techniques to overcome adversity, feel better, and move on with your life.

I enjoy working with individuals and couples who are curious and hungry for more connection to themselves and others in their lives. When you start therapy, I will talk with you about what brings you to therapy, the life you want to create and what you think holds you back. I will reflect with you on how it feels to be with and collaborate with you on your own thriving. You are likely to display the same intra- and inter-personal patterns with me that enhance or impede your progress in your relationships at work and home. Most of my clients start therapy because of depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties and work challenges.

Using a holistic, trauma-informed approach that blends CBT and somatic practices, I guide clients toward clarity, confidence, and more fulfilling relationships.
I support individuals working through the deep and often hidden impacts of trauma—whether rooted in the past or triggered by life’s most vulnerable moments, like fertility struggles, pregnancy, postpartum, or perinatal loss. I also help couples navigating the identity and relational shifts that come with parenting. My work extends to those facing anxiety, depression, and major transitions. You don’t have to stay stuck. Together, we’ll move toward healing, reconnection, and a stronger sense of self.

Maybe you are unsure if you will ever be able to let go of the past or move forward from the people and events that have hurt you. You also may have realized that things from your past continue to affect you in the present, but are unsure how to address this. Healing from trauma can be a difficult journey, but you don’t have to do it alone. I believe you already have everything you need inside you to heal, and I will work with you to help you (re)discover that power. Working with me means that you will learn ways to tackle your triggers, break harmful patterns, and let go of what is holding you back.

I am a therapist and clinical sexologist who has worked for over 15 years with clients across the lifespan. Currently, I work with cis-het and LGBTQIA+ adults and couples in all relationship styles. My first goal in working with a new client or couple is to understand their experience and concerns. From there, we collaboratively determine how I can best assist them in the therapy process. I pride myself on my ability to meet people where they are at, build a supportive relationship, and help them work towards their goals. Over the years, my clients have told me they value my direct and compassionate therapeutic style.

Welcome. I am glad you’re here. Finding a therapist is hard. I want to make it easy. When we feel stuck, burdened by unhealthy patterns, or are experiencing life transitions, we can feel anxious, sad, overwhelmed, and lost. You have come to the right place. Therapy is a tool, much like visiting a doctor for your physical health, that can help you get back on track. My style is warm, authentic, and non-judgmental. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment by listening closely and responding with compassion. I will give you plenty of space to share, explore, and deepen your insight.

Welcome! I’m Lennie. I am passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ communities–particularly transgender and gender nonconforming–and those healing from trauma, experiencing grief and loss, and coping with cancer and chronic illnesses. I believe that there is no one “right” path to recovery and healing, and that everyone has the right to pursue an enjoyable quality of life. Regardless of whether you are searching for therapy for the hundredth time or the first time, as a first defense or a last-ditch effort, and whether you have specific goals in mind or just want to try it out and see if it works for you–you are welcomed!

What if the things that always made you different (ie your neurodivergence, gender identity, sexual orientation) were not an indicator that you were wrong or broken? Who you are is a gift. You do not have to hide or become less of who you are. Through therapy we will uncover and use your unique strengths to move towards growth and healing.

In addition to psychodynamically oriented talk therapy, I integrate mindfulness, trauma informed approaches, somatic imagery, and EMDR, all depending on your individual needs.
There are times that you might feel stuck in patterns that make life feel unsatisfying and empty. Maybe you feel depressed, anxious or in chronic pain. You may be negotiating a relationship or trying to adjust to a new job. Psychotherapy allows you the space to understand how your past and present intersect and what gets in the way of living life to your fullest while also helping you to tap into your inner resources. My approach is collaborative, thus giving you the space to reflect carefully. I work with you to develop better coping skills and help you to understand & manage complex feelings of anxiety or sadness.

Just as you don't click with every person you meet in the world, you won't mesh with every therapist. And I want to make sure you have a good experience in therapy! As a career changer myself, I work well with professionals who are feeling stuck in certain areas of their life and can't seem to figure it out with the same tools they have used in the past. I love to assist people in mobilizing strengths they already have (like being analytical) and building new capacities (like sitting with tough emotions and listening to the body). Trauma, relationships, family dynamics, identity, and sexual concerns come up a lot in our sessions.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
