You may be exploring polyamory or non-monogamy, strengthening communication, or seeking deeper intimacy and authenticity. Perhaps you’re navigating kink, repairing trust, or untangling shame that keeps you from fully embracing your sexuality. Many of my clients are queer, kinky, or non-monogamous adults who have felt misunderstood in past therapy. They want a therapist who welcomes their identities without judgment, affirms their desires, and helps them create relationships that reflect their values. I work with individuals, couples, and polycules, as well as families navigating polyamorous dynamics.

We hold the key to all the answers we need on our journeys to self - actualization. In this day and time of fast-paced, quick stimulation and fixes gratification, we miss those opportunities to slow down and really listen to the our "spirit", our "gut instincts", the signs and signals our own body send to us to alert us when we are "out of balance" mentally and emotionally. As a result, we become clouded with doubts, mixed-messages, insecurity, etc. Right now, what is needed are those specific tools and strategies - just for you, in order to life to the fullest! Right Now! Let me help you in your journey to be the best you.

With training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR), and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP).
My journey in this field began with a deep-rooted desire to make a positive impact, leading me to earn my undergraduate degree in Social Work from Catholic University in 2013. I continued my education and completed my Masters in Social Work through the advanced standing program in 2014. My professional path has taken me through various roles, starting with the DC Child and Family Services, where I completed my clinical licensure requirements. For the past nine years, I’ve had the privilege of working in private practice, helping clients from diverse backgrounds find fulfillment and resilience.

I use IFS, EMDR, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy to support lasting, embodied change.
You’ve tried doing “the work” already. Therapy, self-help books, late-night Google rabbit holes... but something still feels stuck. Like no matter how hard you try, the same patterns keep repeating. Maybe it’s perfectionism that leads to procrastination, caregiving others that leaves you burnt out, or overthinking that robs you of time and rest. You’ve done therapy before, maybe even read all the self-help books. But the standard 50 minute session just hasn’t gotten to the root. You might be someone who’s deeply thoughtful, creative, or neurodivergent - someone who grew up feeling misunderstood or like your needs were too much.

I often use EMDR to address these issues.
I believe that even in the darkest seasons, we contain within ourselves the seeds of healing, change and growth. However, we often need someone to walk alongside us to ask good questions, offer perspective, and cheer us on. I love listening to people’s stories in order to help them untangle the different threads and consider the impact their past is having on their emotions and behavior in the present.

Feel like you’re carrying the weight of the world, yet you’re all alone in it? Maybe there’s a relentless hum of anxiety, a low-key feeling of loneliness that never really lets up even if you have people around. You’ve tried talking things through, but it’s like putting a Band-Aid on something that needs stitches. I’m here to help you dig way beneath the surface, past the quick fixes, and figure out what’s really fueling all that angst. With a deep assessment background, we’ll get at those hidden layers. Then we can rewire an overactive nervous system that has your own thoughts treating your brain like it’s part of a firing squad.

I believe my purpose is to help families, couples, and individuals engage in healthy relationships with themselves and others. I help my clients identify psychological, emotional, and spiritual barriers to mental wellness. I support my clients through the process of defining who they are and who they want to become in relationship with family, partners, friends, or colleagues. I collaborate with my clients as they embrace opportunities to be transformed. I help illuminate the intersection among race, class, gender, and trauma, and how this intersection shapes who we all are as evolving human beings.

I use relational EMDR and psychodynamic approaches to treat trauma reactions, depression, anxiety, and relationship concerns.
My hope is that our work together will help you move through the world differently — with kinder self-understanding, confidence to live differently, and deeper, more connected relationships. In therapy, we will identify the strategies that helped you in the past, but may be constraining or problematic now. We will also develop new ways of living that offer more freedom, authenticity, and meaning.

I'm also EMDR-trained!
Sometimes there are significant disruptions in life that not only affect the present, but also the future. They have the potential to impact how we see ourselves, how we talk to ourselves and others, and can even create negative beliefs about our world. I believe our past experiences shape who we are and how we interact with people today and in the future. My goal is to help you explore different areas of your life that need love and healing, and equip you with the strategies you need to handle what life throws at you. I also believe in using the strengths you already have to help you use them for healing, growth, and change.

You hope to free yourself from painful life experiences, adjust to a big change, or grieve a loss that carries great significance. You’re looking for a safe, supportive, judgment free space to feel, heal and grow fearlessly. You’ve tried traditional talk therapy but need an approach that values the wisdom of the body-mind connection. You’re ready to understand what you need to feel more whole, authentic, and empowered..

In addition to 14 years of experience working with trauma and grief, I am a certified Level 3 IFS therapist and certified EMDR therapist.
I’m Kerry and I'm glad you are here. Many people seek therapy to better understand themselves and their emotions. Navigating trauma, abuse, emotional neglect, and grief can be lonely, confusing, and hard to do alone. If you’re ready to begin, I’m here to companion you and guide you on your healing journey. Healing isn’t about “fixing” yourself — it’s about understanding your story, honoring all parts of you, and finding inner harmony and security.

Using individual talk therapy and/or EMDR for trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues.
Although only one part of my practice, compulsive use of internet pornography is a painful issue for many individuals as well as their significant others. Recent studies of divorce attorneys have indicated that pornography use is cited as one of the major contributors to divorce for 50% of divorcing couples.

My approach blends EMDR, IFS, and relational psychodynamic therapy.
Are you feeling stuck in the same trauma patterns, even though you’ve done everything “right”? Maybe you’re constantly questioning yourself, wondering if you’re "enough," why relationships feel so hard, or why anxiety and sadness keep showing up no matter how much you achieve. Between family expectations, cultural pressure, and old traumatic wounds, it’s exhausting to keep pushing through. Maybe dating feels like déjà vu, or your relationships keep hitting the same walls. Therapy can be the space where you finally break the patterns, heal your attachment wounds, show up differently, in love and in life, and finally find peace.

I'm trained in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR).
I work with ages 12+ who are experiencing anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, trauma, CPTSD/PTSD, and grief. I believe what we resist persists, so challenges are best overcome when faced directly with courage and compassion. True healing and change can take time and effort, and I believe deeply in the power of therapy to create a dynamic for growth and change—helping individuals create the selves and lives they hope to live.

You and your partner may be feeling out of sync, struggling to truly hear and understand one another. This relationship means so much to you, yet sadness, fear, and frustration keep growing. Even when you try to communicate clearly, your partner seems to see things differently, and conflicts remain unresolved. You're feeling disconnected and alone. You're looking for a roadmap to learn to communicate deeply and effectively, and rebuild your bond. You long to be understood and feel close again, as well as secure that you can count on each other to face life’s challenges together. Therapy can create deep change and reconnection.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
