Adult psychotherapy: My practice utilizes an integrative approach that balances deep emotional support with practical, goal-oriented strategies. By combining the Rogerian (Person-Centered) model with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I create a therapeutic space where you are first met with unconditional empathy and non-judgmental understanding. Once a foundation of safety and self-acceptance is established, we work collaboratively to identify and restructure the thought patterns that may be keeping you stuck. This dual focus ensures you feel truly heard and valued as an individual while gaining the concrete tools.

I think of therapy as a way of freeing ourselves from the obstacles which prevent us from moving forward in our lives. Frequently these obstacles present themselves to us in the challenges of the outer world--in problems at work, in difficult relationships, in adapting to life changes, or in the sudden impact of a traumatic event. And sometimes what stands in the way of our freedom and happiness lies within us, as negative thought patterns, conflicting or confusing emotions, and unexpressed feelings--all of which can result in depression, anxiety, chronic illness, low self esteem--burdens we often carry alone.

Whether you are navigating relationship concerns, adjusting to a major life transition, or working to heal from past experiences, knowing where to begin can feel overwhelming. In therapy, we will work together to better understand your concerns, values, and needs, while building on your existing strengths to address current stressors. My practice is informed by a social justice–oriented, feminist, and anti-oppressive framework, and is grounded in the belief that you are the expert of your own lived experience. I view therapy as a collaborative process in support of your individualized goals.

Do your emotions feel overwhelming? Are you bored and restless with your life? Does the future seem hopeless? Many of us experience these feelings, yet often think we're the only ones. We worry that if we show people what’s really going on, they will avoid and judge us. In therapy, we give voice to these feelings, and learn that while they can be scary at times, they also reveal a path to healing and change.

Welcome. At various times in our lives we all end up feeling sad, angry, anxious, or lost. Sometimes we end up in unhealthy patterns: doubting our self-worth, obsessing about the past or the future, lashing out at others, or isolating ourselves. So many of our unhelpful behaviors protect us in the short-term, but leave long-term costs. I'm a clinical social worker and I provide help with these and other issues. The core of my training has been to meet you where you are--mentally and emotionally--and help you find effective techniques to overcome adversity, feel better, and move on with your life.

I work with a wide variety of clients in individual, couples, group and consultation formats.I provide a relationship that promotes respectful, direct expression of our unique human frailties and strengths be they happy, angry, fearful or sad. Psychotherapy is a potent elixir for change. The 'contents' of life provides for each of us at times a 'wild-ride', a 'lazy day', or somewhere in between. I help my clients with the 'process' of life to stay connected with their Self and others. If all goes well in the individual or couples therapy, most of my clients matriculate into a group psychotherapy process to further their growth.

Seeking help takes courage. I am invested in working together toward making the changes you seek by creating a safe, trusting environment where we can explore the roadblocks holding you back. I practice in a holistic community where many modalities of treatment are used to promote healing. Do you feel "keyed up" most of the time or continue to behave in damaging patterns where you know the "why" but can't seem to make changes? Talk may not be enough.

Relax. This is a space where you don’t have to mask, perform, or be “on.” I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. Many of my clients also identify with ADHD—or feel stuck in patterns of overwhelm, emotional reactivity, or self-criticism. I’m ADHD-CSSP certified and provide LGBTQ+-friendly care. My approach is practical, down-to-earth, and human. You can expect honest conversation, lots of thoughtful questions, clear strategies, and gentle but direct pushback when it’s useful.

I believe the most important thing about therapy is empowering you so that you can make conscious choices about your life. My style is active and involved. Working collaboratively, I can help you define your goals and see what is causing your pain, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and problems in relationships. As a child, you learned ways of coping with your environment that were safe for you at the time. Those coping behaviors became habitual but, as an adult, no longer work for you and interfere with your happiness and your ability to function at your highest level.

I work with individuals who want to better understand themselves and work towards change. Whether you are working through the impact of trauma, or deepen your awareness of yourself, I offer a warm and collaborative space where we can do this work together. I also work with romantic partners who want to work towards a specific goal in their relationship. This could be making a particular decision, exploring matters of intimacy, or resolving an ongoing conflict. I also particularly enjoy working with athletes experiencing mental blocks or performance related anxiety.
