I am fluent in Arabic and come from a middle eastern background, this provides me with the opportunity to empathize with individuals struggling with the stigma behind mental health and the cultural barriers that might interfere with receiving mental health services.
Licensed in both CA and DC, I believe therapy is a wonderful avenue for individuals to discover more about themselves and their self-worth. It is about growing, protecting boundaries, and healing through discovering and repairing past and present wounds. I specialize in adolescents, teens, and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, complex trauma, and difficulty with life transitions (moving, parenthood, marriage, etc). I am EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) trained to help individuals process and move past their traumatic experiences, allowing them to heal and find peace.

You make sense. Every feeling, every thought, every behavior. Even if those feelings, thoughts, or behaviors are clearly getting in the way of your peace, your goals, or the kinds of relationships you want to have. I'm here to help you explore and create compassion for your internal world, because you can't change what you don't understand. Here are a few examples of clients who I work well with: those experiencing a faith crisis/transition, people who value spirituality (mainstream or alternative forms), men with young children, federal workers, and high performers with relationship struggles. I work with individuals and couples.

Hello, I’m Dania. I’m an art therapist and trauma-focused therapist with over 12 years of clinical experience supporting individuals who are working through the lasting effects of overwhelming experiences. Trauma can shape how we experience emotions, relationships, and safety in the world. It can cause feelings of being anxious, on edge, emotionally shut down, or overwhelmed by reactions that seem difficult to control. It may also seep into relationships or stress responses that repeat even when we try to approach things differently. Often, these responses developed as ways the nervous system learned to cope.

You look like you have it together, but inside, you're exhausted. Maybe you can't quiet the inner critic, your relationships keep hitting the same walls, or you've been "fine" for so long you've lost touch with what you actually want. You might be struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, perfectionism, or patterns that keep you stuck. You may be feeling that something needs to change. You want to feel like yourself again and more grounded. You're ready to explore what's beneath the surface and do something different.

Losing a loved one can be the most difficult time in your life. Emotions are often surprising in their strength or mildness. Grief often breaks a person completely from the inside out. Grieving is hard work; you can get worn out and feel battered. It can take a lot longer to work through grief than most people realize. People around you may think it’s helpful for you to not talk or cry or focus on your loss but actually, this is just what people need to do. The goal is to not stay stuck, to move through it—and this is part of the process. Find wholeness through trauma informed talk therapy, yoga, mindfulness.

My approach to helping people through psychological difficulties is based on the idea that a special form of human interaction will increase self-knowledge, develop emotional skills and activate latent potential. I aim to identify unconscious patterns of thinking, feeling and relating that reinforce negative emotion and destructive behavior. My style is directed thoughtful and collaborative. The process of being understood, of learning about the various ways your mind works and of developing a new repertoire of psychological skills will open up new avenues for growth and engagement in your life’s pursuits.

I provide strategic divorce support: Understand what you're actually negotiating (assets, custody, support). Balance what's fair & what's ideal. Design a workable co-parenting plan. Communicate with spouse without losing your mind. Avoid costly mistakes as the divorce phase drags on. And when/if to involve lawyers. My goal is to provide you with what no other provider can: clarity, confidence, and pausing chaos. Your marriage ran its course. Your kids asking questions. Your finances are entangled. Every decision feels high-stakes, and everyone has advice, but no one is giving you a clear plan.

I am familiar with Middle Eastern cultures and can offer a hybrid of Arabic and English therapy.
You feel alone, misunderstood and anxious about showing up as your full, authentic self. You feel emotionally disconnected from loved ones because they don’t get you anymore. Or maybe they never did. You find yourself searching for meaning in life while trying to understand who you are and where you belong. You feel lost and terrified. Those around you don’t understand, nor do they see how much you’re struggling. You’ve become good at hiding how you really feel. Sometimes you feel others may be better off without you. You're close to giving up, but you want to make a change. You long to be understood and accepted, and to belong.

Maybe you’ve noticed the same struggles showing up again and again, in your relationships, your self-image, or your thoughts. You don’t have to remain stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. I offer a supportive, collaborative environment where we can explore what’s been holding you back and help you develop the tools you need to move forward. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, self-esteem challenges, or difficulty setting boundaries, you don't have to face it alone.
