I also utilize other trauma-focused approaches, such as AEDP and attachment-based therapies.

Most of the problems that bring people to therapy began as solutions—ways of surviving in a difficult world. But when those old solutions stop working—when anxiety creeps in, when depression won’t lift, or when relationships falter—we need a new relationship where we can learn new solutions. In therapy with me, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. I don’t assume I know what’s best for you before we’ve even met. Instead, I take time to understand who you are, how you work, and what’s really going on beneath the surface. I listen closely and tailor the work accordingly.

You're doing your best but still feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected. Maybe you're frustrated with patterns of worry or avoidance, overwhelmed by career or school stress, facing relationship challenges (whether romantic, friends, or family), or healing from dating trauma. It can be exhausting keeping all of life's pieces together. If you're living with ADHD, these struggles feel even more intense. Therapy is about understanding how you work, what's getting in your way, and building a life that feels manageable. I work with adults, students, young professionals, and couples ready to stop surviving and start thriving.

I bring a nonjudgmental, warm presence to therapy, helping you to work through depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Each of us is capable of more than just “getting by,” even if we sometimes struggle to access a sense of ease, contentment, or fulfillment in life. Allowing ourselves to hope for a better experience, a better life, takes courage. However, I firmly believe that every human has the innate capacity to transform suffering into freedom and joy.

I view therapy as an invitation to bring awareness to the here and now. For many of us, we press forward, through, and over difficult feelings when they arise in our daily lives. Often they show up as unwanted thoughts or images. They not only fill us with dread, but we will go to great lengths to avoid them. On the other hand, what if moving toward our feelings actually reduces the influence they have over us, allowing us to attend to the very things we value, thereby creating meaning and purpose in our lives.

For me, psychoanalytic therapy remains one of the most innovative treatments there are to explore our innermost, often unknown parts of the self—locating both the words and an access to the body that works-through many kinds of pain, meaning, and lived experiences. Symptoms, while being a source of profound distress, reflect meaningful expressions of unconscious desire, inner conflict, and formative personal history. I view my work with clients as bringing them closer to the transformative possibilities that arise when we speak and listen—with patience, warmth and curiosity—for the deeper meanings to emerge.

With 17 years of hospital experience, I specialize in therapy for those navigating trauma, chronic illness, and healthcare demands. I've seen firsthand how illness affects individuals and loved ones, fueling my passion to help you through emotional turbulence. You may be feeling anxious, emotionally overwhelmed, or stuck in relationship patterns that leave you feeling frustrated or disconnected. Past experiences or trauma may still show up in your body and emotions, even when you try to move forward. You might find yourself overthinking, people-pleasing, shutting down, or feeling on edge, wondering why these struggles persist despite your insight and effort. I want to help you feel more at peace, grounded, and to experience better relationships with those you care about.

Maybe you're here because you're tired of the constant worry and racing thoughts that won't let your brain shut off. Or perhaps you're struggling with feeling like you’re not good enough. Maybe your challenges are with focus and motivation, and you're tired of feeling stuck. If any of this sounds familiar, you're in the right place. As a therapist, I love helping people understand the "why" behind their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I have extensive experience helping children, adolescents, and young adults navigate their emotions and develop adaptive coping skills.

I strive to provide a collaborative and supportive working space for individual clients or couples with a range of presenting concerns. My clients tell me that they appreciate my warmth and practicality, as well as my willingness to provide an individualized treatment plan tailored to their specific needs. I believe that most clients' struggles-be they with depression, anxiety, attentional difficulties, or relationship issues-are born of and maintained by a range of factors. These factors may include past experiences, family history, biology, or unhelpful patterns of thinking.

When a particular area of life is less rewarding or is problematic, you may seek assistance rediscovering your path to mental health. Understanding that therapy is more likely to be helpful when you feel comfortable with your therapist, and hopeful about the therapy, my approach emphasizes accessing each person’s unique strengths and resources in order to facilitate growth, new learning, and fulfillment. I use a person-centered integrative approach drawing from psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and somatic theories to work collaboratively with you toward mutually agreed-upon goals.

AEDP Therapists

Who is AEDP therapy for?

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) is for adults who have experienced emotional pain in the past that, because it has not been adequately addressed and processed, interferes with current functioning. The problems might manifest in a number of different ways, from excessive anger to relationship difficulties to PTSD to eating disorders, poor self-esteem, and depression. They may also be accompanied by physiological symptoms. AEDP helps people accept and digest challenging emotional experiences.

Why do people need AEDP?

People need AEDP as a way to manage distressing emotions—including anger, shame, and guilt—that in some way hamper the ability to function and form satisfying relationships in the present. The therapist-client relationship is believed to provide corrective emotional and relational experiences that facilitate positive changes in brain function, forge pathways for processing traumatic experiences, and allow resolution of emotional pain.

What happens in AEDP therapy?

Once individuals have established a strong bond with the AEDP therapist and the therapist has established a safe and secure environment, clients are encouraged to explore their most painful emotional experiences. They may be asked to pay attention to disquieting body sensations as well as to psychological discomfort. Individuals learn how to process emotions, rather than avoid them. Through the strength of the therapist-client bond, each session is intended to provide a powerful positive experience for individuals, enabling growth.

What problems does AEDP treat?

AEDP is intended to treat the unprocessed emotional pain caused by earlier distressing experiences, which commonly includes behavioral avoidance of current situations and experiences for fear that they will reactivate painful feelings. Emotional pain and avoidant behavior play a role in a wide array of mental health conditions, which is why AEDP is applied to the treatment of a range of disorders including depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship difficulties, and eating disorders.
