I work with adolescents, adult civilians & veterans/active military.
Current Telehealth Openings: Do you feel stressed, overwhelmed, or dissatisfied with life? Are you trying to adjust to a change (e.g., break up, job change, grief)? Are you haunted by trauma or experiencing PTSD symptoms? Any of these can make daily life incredibly challenging and emotionally painful or lead to numbness. Perhaps you’ve tried different strategies on your own but still don’t feel better. I can help you work through your situation so that you feel less overwhelmed, more at peace and in control, and better able to focus on the best path forward for you. We can work together to help you feel better.

Overcoming mental and emotional challenges can be difficult, but even more when you feel like you are dealing with them alone. It's not always easy finding someone who's willing to listen and understands from a culturally responsive lens, especially when discussing personal challenges that have been discouraged outside of the home. Stress can come from many different avenues of life (career, family, relationships, society, and culture, etc) and can bring about depressions, anxiety, anger, isolation, and low-self esteem. It's not easy learning healthy ways to cope, managing your symptoms, and even recognizing that there's a problem.

I like to work with adults, young adults, and late adolescents dealing with depression, anxiety, interpersonal concerns, LGBTQ+ issues, and/or substance abuse difficulties, often using an action-oriented and cognitive-behavioral (CBT) approach.
Feel free to call or write if you would like more information or if you think it would be useful to meet. For those interested in reading more, I co-authored a self-help book entitled "Beating the College Blues" and co-edited a book called "College Mental Health Practice," a text for professionals.

Sometimes we worry that coming to therapy means something is wrong. I believe it means something is right. Often, my clients find themselves facing more decisions and questions about who they are and what they want out of their lives and relationships than ever before. My clients experience a range of concerns including depression, anxiety, career challenges, loneliness, trauma, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, adjusting to life changes, difficult family dynamics, and generally feeling overwhelmed by life. This is an important time when many people ask themselves: How can I feel like what I do matters?

You’re successful at work, an active community member, and the first person your friends call in a crisis. But inside, there’s a part of you that’s not getting what she needs. You know you ‘should’ value solitude and self-care, but it’s hard to be alone. Whenever there’s a pause in your busy life, you notice a gnawing sense of emptiness. Pain over past relationships is taking up a lot of your mental real estate. You wonder: Am I choosing the wrong people? Or am I pushing the ‘right’ people away? You long to be part of a close-knit tribe — but sometimes it feels like you need your friends more than they need you.
