I specialize in ADHD, eating disorders, body image, LGBTQIA+, relational trauma, and interpersonal violence/domestic violence survivors.
As a therapist, I pride myself on being approachable and genuinely engaged in the therapeutic relationship. I strive to offer a nurturing space filled with acceptance, collaboration, and humor that is safe for all gender, sexual and cultural identities. My practice is oriented in Relational-Cultural Theory (RCT), which believes that individuals grow through connectedness, to ourselves and our community. RCT is an Intersectional Feminist approach that allows me to bring social justice and multiculturalism in all forms into my work with clients. I also work within the Health and Every Size (HAES) and body neutrality models.

Ready for less surviving and more flourishing? Less chaos and more ease? You feel like a hot mess, pouring so much energy into getting by. You want success at school or work, better connections with your partner, friends, and family, and a satisfying sex life. You wish you could have more fun. But past failures, disappointments, heartbreak, or regrets keep haunting you. It feels like the pandemic reinforced these mental and emotional shackles.

Many of my clients are thoughtful and self-aware but still feel stuck, even when they know what should help I work with individuals dealing with anxiety, burnout, ADHD, autism, and life transitions like career shifts, relationship changes, and self-esteem.
Here's how it works: we talk, I listen for patterns, and we figure out what's getting in the way. I'll share resources, book recommendations, and approaches other client have found hepful. I'll ask real questions and push back when it's useful. I draw primarily on ACT, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and mindfulness-based research.

My specialty and passion is working with adolescents: teenagers, college students, and young adults; especially around anxiety and ADHD.
I view therapy as an opportunity for every person to have a confidential, supportive, and guided experience towards personal growth and facing life’s unending challenges. My style of therapy is very much like my personality: down to earth, humble, funny, compassionate, slightly sarcastic, direct, and blunt in a loving way. I have a sense of humor about myself, and I encourage my clients to adopt the same attitude. Each client who walks into my office comes with a unique history of experiences. To personalize treatment I use a combination of evidence-based therapeutic techniques to best support, explore, interpret, and solve.

Navigating your 20s and 30s while grappling with your identity and societal expectations can stir up a whirlwind of emotions. You might feel like you’re being pulled in different directions making it difficult to understand who you are and where you fit in. Maybe you feel like you don’t belong anywhere—like you're "too much" of one thing or "not enough" of another. As a second-generation Liberian immigrant, I get the struggle of balancing cultural identity, family expectations, and your own dreams. I am here to support you in honoring your roots while empowering you to carve out your own path and define who you truly are.

My approach to psychotherapy focuses on helping clients gain an awareness that they are the agents of change in their lives. Therapy can help increase their response-ability, taking responsibility for the elements that drive behaviors that are not fully in awareness. In therapy, through looking at the events and the thoughts and feelings associated with how they have come to the current predicament, clients can come that they are the ones living in the lives they inhabit, and through this insight, they can implement the changes they want to see. Cognitive behavioral therapy, or CBT, is one way of fostering awareness.

I have experience supporting clients with anxiety, depression, ADHD, personality disorders, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, family conflict, suicidal ideations, self esteem, & life’s ups and downs.
In therapy, there’s no “one-size-fits-all” approach because people aren’t one-size-fits-all. I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities to meet each client’s unique needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), play-based therapy, relational therapy, solution-focused therapy, and psychodynamic therapy.

All of us create patterns of behavior in our formative years to help us survive real and perceived dangers. What are those patterns? How have those patterns constricted our lives today? My approach to therapy is interpersonal. I integrate elements of family systems theory, attachment theory, existential theory, and psychodynamic theory, among others in my work. I believe real change occurs through the collaborative, moment-to-moment interactions between therapist and client in an honest and compassionate space.

ADHD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
