Depending on your needs, we may use more of sensorimotor, which is a somatic-based practice or we may use more of IFS that allows us to create a landscape of you and all your parts.
Life can be messy, chaotic, and complicated; therapy reminds me of spring cleaning. Similar to spring cleaning, therapy can be slow, overwhelming, & messy. Throughout the therapeutic process, it is my goal to support clients to embrace all the parts of them in healing from trauma. Together, we will work to unpack and find meaning, connection, understanding, and even humor. I work with individuals that have experienced sexual trauma, relational trauma, eating disorders, and struggle with the impacts of trauma. I deeply enjoy working with individuals that want to deepen their connection to self and community.

I utilize principles of Internal Family Systems (or "parts work"), psychodynamic, somatic, and mindfulness-based therapies, as well as ERP and Brainspotting.
My clients would describe me as easy to talk to, genuine, warm, inquisitive, and validating. While I take therapy seriously, I also think laughter is a powerful medicine. If you're tired of "just talking" in therapy, my interactive style might work well for you.

I use experiential & somatic approaches to help you process stress, fears, & past wounds that get stuck beyond intellect.
Is too much happening too quickly? Do you bounce between feeling wound up and bogged down? That overwhelm isn’t just personal—it’s a response to systems of oppression designed to wear us down. I am queer and gay; I know what it's like to feel stuck while navigating identity, stress, and big life shifts. I help those who feel "different" or "out of place" to build a “safe home” in their body, reconnect with joy, and trust themself again. When we’re burdened by expectations, we disconnect and numb out—I’m here to help you come home to yourself and reclaim your excitement!

I conduct individual and group therapy with an integrative approach from various treatment methodologies (attachment, EMDR, DBT, psychodynamic, IFS, CBT, somatic, relapse prevention) in order to help you build the skills needed to achieve personal growth and healing.
It takes incredible strength and courage to realize that you are struggling and need support. It’s even more tiring doing the same thing over and over again and having the same outcome. Are you struggling with love, sex, or porn addiction? Have you been deeply betrayed by the person you love? Are you in a toxic relationship or struggling to move on from one? Are you struggling to set boundaries? We all have an innate ability to heal within a safe environment that allows us to be vulnerable and feel validated. My goal is to provide that environment for you to explore your struggles and empower yourself to work towards your goals.

I often pull from various treatment modalities, but you can count on me always bringing mindfulness and somatic techniques into our work together.
My work with clients is grounded in, as Carl Jung said long ago, that "the privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are." No matter where you find yourself on this path to your true self (or you find yourself lost in the woods searching for the path itself), I am ready to support and empower you throughout your mental health journey.

Finding a place we can trust to tell our stories is essential to finding a path to healing, recovery, and transformation. Therefore, it is essential to find someone that can help you reach your potential to transform your life. We all are born with an innate capacity to develop healthy lives. However, sometimes life experiences such as hurts and traumas can interfere with our development and we may become unhappy or unsatisfied with our lives and adopt self-defeating thinking and behavioral patterns.

Are you in an unhealthy relationship? Is it hard for you to set boundaries with significant others? Do you have difficulty making decisions? Doubting yourself or feeling like an imposter can make tough times (and difficult decisions) even tougher. I can help you explore and develop a greater understanding and appreciation of your authentic self. Our bodies do keep the score, so it’s vital to connect mind and body. Unprocessed trauma can block that connection. Once our nervous system is regulated, everything seems to fall into place: Anxiety decreases, as does pain perception, while cognitive and creative capabilities increase.

I create an environment that helps clients explore both the internal and external barriers to their healing and growth. As a psychologist I pull from working with diverse groups of people and assist on issues of trauma, grief, loss, relationship difficulties, wellness and health. To me, therapy is best when it's a mix of approaches that are used strategically to create a nonjudgmental and empathic atmosphere. My style is both warm and thought-provoking, and I actively collaborate with and support those with whom I work.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
