The foundation of my approach is rooted in social justice and liberation frameworks. This means an acknowledgement, honoring, and connecting of how our individual and collective communities’ histories, the histories of our ancestors, and cultural backgrounds and identities influence our current lived experiences. My approach to therapy is integrated and holistic— mainly informed through psychodynamic (insight-oriented), somatic (body-focused), and interpersonal process interventions. At times, I might use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy or Exposure and Response Prevention therapy approach if it is a better for my client.

I am happy to work with you to determine whether in-person or online therapy is the best fit for your needs.
We all carry around a metaphorical bag of stuff with us. That bag is filled with our thoughts, feelings, and experiences; everything that makes us who we are. In therapy, we unpack your bag. We explore each item and get curious about it. How did that item get in the bag? What is the impact of carrying it around with you? Together, we make meaning of your items. Some items you will decide are essential. Others are weighing you down, and preventing you from being your authentic self. I help you decide what you want to do with those items and, together, we figure out how to do it.

I have openings for new patients to meet in person or via video.
I believe that our life and cultural experiences, especially our earliest ones, are fundamental in shaping the way we view ourselves and others. It is essential to understand my patient's cultural identity (i.e., race, gender, gender identity, sexuality, class) and how it has shaped their development. Often negative life experiences can create problematic ways of coping and a skewed perception of who we are in the world. This can lead to a variety of issues related to anxiety, depression, shame, rejection, stress, relationship issues, identity development, grief & loss, and sexual intimacy.

My ideal client is frustrated. A little stuck. A little wary. Longing for change, but a little bit afraid to hope that it's actually possible. And, ready enough to try something new. There’s an old saying: if nothing changes, nothing changes. And frankly, change can be hard to make on our own. Even when we want it. When we feel stuck, we often can’t quite see the full picture anymore. We keep running into the same challenges and coming up with the same faulty solutions. It’s not that we’re not trying, it’s that our strategies have stopped working. That’s where a good therapist comes in. I hope to be that for you.

I offer trauma-informed, culturally responsive therapy for individuals and couples in person and online.
Something feels unsettled. Maybe it’s a persistent sense of worry, a heaviness that’s difficult to name, or relationship patterns that make you feel distant from yourself or the people you care about most. You’ve spent years managing, accommodating, or keeping things moving—but lately, it feels like the cost is too high. You may not have words for all of it yet, but you know it’s time to turn inward, to move differently. My role is to help you make sense of what’s really going on beneath the surface—gently, at your pace, and with care that honors your past, your culture, your identity, and your capacity to heal.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
