I am called when you have a loved one that needs help for an addiction, whether that be a substance like alcohol, heroin, prescription drugs or a process addiction like gambling, but is resistant to getting the treatment they need.
Doing a successful intervention takes solid, clinical knowledge of addiction, as well as experience, finesse, and respect for the patient that is suffering from this disorder and their families. I have all of these qualities. If you would like to see me discuss this, please look at a segment I’ve done on The Dr. Oz Show: https://bit.ly/3iRWnde

Some seek to assuage their suffering with psychoactive substances (illicit and licit) and this leads only to addiction and abdication of autonomy over one's authentic self.
An effective approach to the eradication or attenuation of the existential angst that lies at the core of most psychological maladies requires an integrative approach. As such, Amenistic Analysis is an amalgam of Existentialism, Stoicism, Asceticism, Transcendentalism, and Minimalistic Meditation.

I have extensive experience in treating depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, substance misuse, behavioral addictions, OCD, and personality disorders.
My practice is one that lives within two philosophies— meeting you where you are and finding a place of supportive confrontation. You have a story, and my goal is to navigate through that narrative collaboratively and with curiosity while emphasizing your unique strengths. The supportive confrontation is a challenge to get comfortable with the uncomfortable. Often, attempting something new and facing a fear can inspire change, and that's where we begin our work together. Our sessions are a commitment to bravery when investigating those external and internal influences that slow or prevent the change process from occuring.

With extensive experience in treating trauma, addiction, relationship and family challenges, mood and anxiety disorders, and life's everyday stressors, I'm here to help you feel seen, supported, and empowered.
Many of the challenges we face today—whether in relationships, habits, mood, anxiety, or motivation—are rooted in earlier life experiences that may not have been fully processed or understood. These past experiences can shape how we see ourselves, how we relate to others, and how we respond to stress. In our work together, we’ll develop an understanding of how your past is influencing your present, uncover meaningful insights, reduce emotional overwhelm, and begin to shift unhelpful patterns. From there, we’ll build practical, personalized tools that empower you to make lasting changes and move toward the life you want to live.

Something feels unsettled. Maybe it’s a persistent sense of worry, a heaviness that’s difficult to name, or relationship patterns that make you feel distant from yourself or the people you care about most. You’ve spent years managing, accommodating, or keeping things moving—but lately, it feels like the cost is too high. You may not have words for all of it yet, but you know it’s time to turn inward, to move differently. My role is to help you make sense of what’s really going on beneath the surface—gently, at your pace, and with care that honors your past, your culture, your identity, and your capacity to heal.

I have experience supporting people impacted by trauma, attachment and relational issues, substance use, postpartum, and anxiety or mood disorders.
My ideal client is frustrated. A little stuck. A little wary. Longing for change, but a little bit afraid to hope that it's actually possible. And, ready enough to try something new. There’s an old saying: if nothing changes, nothing changes. And frankly, change can be hard to make on our own. Even when we want it. When we feel stuck, we often can’t quite see the full picture anymore. We keep running into the same challenges and coming up with the same faulty solutions. It’s not that we’re not trying, it’s that our strategies have stopped working. That’s where a good therapist comes in. I hope to be that for you.

Addiction Therapists
What is the best therapy for addiction?
Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?
Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?
The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
