Treatment combines evidence-based methods—trauma protocols (CPT, STAIR, WET), CBT-I, ACT, and couples approaches (EFT, Gottman)—to understand how your past impacts your present.
Are you struggling in your relationships? Is trauma from your past or debilitating anxiety hijacking your life? Perhaps you and your partner are stuck in painful cycles you can't break. Maybe you're a high-achieving professional, successful in many areas, but something's holding you back from the connection and peace you deserve. You've tried managing on your own, but it's time for real, lasting change—not just quick fixes. You're ready to invest in deep healing and transformation and want a therapist who understands the unique pressures BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals face navigating complex personal and professional worlds.

My approach to therapy is holistic and integrative, drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Therapies, psychodynamic and humanistic frameworks, and somatic techniques such as EMDR.
I offer mental health assessments (for diagnostic clarification) and AuDHD testing as a supportive way to help individuals gain clarity, understanding, and confidence as they navigate their life's journey. My assessment process is collaborative and compassionate, honoring each person’s unique story, strengths, and cultural context. By gently making sense of patterns and experiences and providing clear, personalized recommendations, assessment can open the door to insight and self-understanding. The primary goal is to help you feel empowered, hopeful, and better equipped to take meaningful next steps toward growth and well-being.

A great deal of my work is partnering with individuals who are experiencing a lack of purpose or direction in their life. This could be related to historical wounds that seem to continually resurface, a sense of feeling stuck or trapped in behavior or relationships that leave you unfulfilled, or feeling a lack of direction and focused energy. Experiencing personal agency to achieve what you want, how you want and knowing you have the capacity to achieve this, is what I foster in a therapeutic relationship. It is my personal belief that there are no limits to what is possible.

Together, we will use evidence-based techniques such as CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Trauma-Informed Care, and expressive arts to help you manage stress, strengthen self-esteem, heal from past experiences, and create a life you feel present in.
Healing does not have to be out of reach or something you postpone until life feels easier. You deserve to feel grounded, confident, and at peace in your own skin now. I help women, especially mothers and mothers-to-be, manage anxiety, overwhelm, life transitions, and the invisible load of balancing family, work, and personal identity. Whether adjusting to motherhood, rebuilding after hardship, or reconnecting with yourself, you are not alone. I also support clients facing career changes, relationship challenges, discrimination, and burnout, helping them reclaim confidence.

I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, and solution-focused techniques.
The people I serve are often navigating anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, or major life transitions while balancing career, family expectations, and cultural identity. Many feel overwhelmed or disconnected but desire clarity, emotional balance, and healthier ways to cope. My name—Kanyinsola (pronounced KAHN-yeen-SAW-lah)—comes from the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria and means “to add honey into wealth.” Having lived in multiple countries, I value cultural humility and understand the pressures of navigating identity, family expectations, and success in new environments.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists
How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?
Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?
It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?
To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?
CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
