If you’re seeking therapy, something in your life feels off. Maybe you’ve done everything right, and your life hasn’t turned out the way you wanted. Maybe you have everything you ever wanted, and you’re surprised that you’re still not happy. Or, maybe you’ve spent so much time pleasing others, that you’ve never really known what you wanted. This inherent uneasiness that comes with adulthood is often inevitable, but it doesn’t have to be permanent. You can learn to reconnect with your inner knowing—your true and natural self. I would love to help you on your journey through this process.

I offer a compassionate, nonjudgmental space for adults who are experiencing anxiety, perfectionism, codependency and low self-esteem.
Do you not feel good enough, no matter what you do? You may be fed up with nitpicking yourself, second guessing yourself, or constantly feeling less than others. You might not remember when things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to finally feel good about yourself. You’re ready to feel confident at work. And most of all, you’re ready to be free from that voice in the back of your head telling you how terrible you are. I can help you finally understand what is keeping you stuck in self-hatred because therapy should be a place where you understand and embrace your true self.

I often see young adults, professionals, and parents who experience anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, codependency, infidelity, lack of fulfillment, are adult children of alcoholics or emotionally immature parents, are recovering from trauma, dealing with relationship difficulties, struggle with self-esteem, or are adjusting to life transitions including parenthood or career changes.
I offer a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment to explore your thoughts and feelings, uncover unconscious patterns, and develop adaptive ways of thinking, behaving, and relating. In my work with patients I have seen strong clinical outcomes, helping my clients achieve lasting change and improved well-being.

You're dealing with ADHD, narcissistic abuse, divorce, a life transition, relationship challenges, or addiction. From the outside things look okay, and inside something is off. Work might be going fine while the rest of life feels much harder than it should. Maybe sleep is a problem, anxiety is in the background most days, a relationship is stuck, sex and intimacy have faded. I'll help you figure out what's actually driving it, and work with what's underneath so the changes you make hold. I have ADHD too, so I know how confusing it can be to manage all the pieces.

I'm a licensed clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst. Occasionally, we notice patterns of thinking, behaving, and experiencing others & ourselves, which can feel very familiar and frustrating. Or we can be hit by sudden life circumstances like loss, transition, identity shifts, or trauma that leave us feeling overwhelmed & scared, where existing strengths and coping skills are outstripped. Through a dynamic and collaborative process, I help patients understand & transform their old ways of being to feel more connected, renewed, and, ultimately, to better flourish in their relationships, work, and within themselves.

You might feel confused, anxious, drained, or blocked. You want to show up as your most authentic and unique self in daily life, relationships, and the world, but it seems like you just can't "get there" alone. You could be asking "Why am I so hard on myself?" and "When does it all get easier?" I know aspects of the academic and corporate worlds can impact mental health making past and present challenges more difficult to overcome. I provide a caring, inclusive, and non judgmental environment. I hold space for you to show up as you are and offer the support you need to thrive.

People often seek therapy when emotions become too distressing, relationship or life circumstances are unsatisfying, and support and new strategies are needed to help the person feel and behave differently. Working with a therapist can enhance your ability to tolerate difficult situations, and make the process of personal growth and change more productive. Therapy is most effective when a collaborative relationship develops between therapist and client. I aim to create an empathetic and supportive environment, where exploring difficult issues will feel safe. Together, we will identify what has created negative emotions or life dissatisfaction, and work actively towards positive change.

I am dedicated to working with adults and on issues related to anxiety, depression, stress, relationships, body image, eating disorders, substance use, and professional and academic development. Based on each person's needs and preferences, I integrate different treatment modalities including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and relational approaches in a supportive atmosphere. After identifying the issues of concern, we may explore their underpinnings, learn how they manifest in your current life, and work on overcoming them through behavioral and cognitive changes.

At its core, therapy is a conversation. Like a greenhouse, this specially crafted conversation we call “therapy” aims to nurture and ripen our words, thoughts, images, emotions, and sensations, all "vitals" of the mind, so that they can become useful in our growth journey, both inside and outside the therapy room. Within the protective bounds of therapy, we find a rare space to talk, enhanced by the luxury of time and undivided attention, an array of choices, the chance for “multiple takes,” and a pause button. It is also in this space where the invitation to discover our innermost self or play a completely new role lives.

Evening/weekend appointments. Finding yourself in deep distress or feeling dissatisfied with life may signal you are ready for change. Therapy can help you understand the roots of distress and help you make desired changes. My therapeutic approach focuses on deepening your understanding of and compassion for yourself by exploring aspects of your identity, examining your values and beliefs, reflecting on relationships that have shaped you, and identifying patterns that may no longer serve you. From this place of understanding and compassion, those sources of distress can shift, creating profound changes in the areas of life most important to you.

Are you a child of a dysfunctional family, see yourself playing roles of a caretaker, people pleaser, fawner or avoidant of conflict? Do you wonder how these roles began? Perhaps you recognize their origin but feel uncertain how to step outside of these roles that feel inauthentic. Do you ever think to yourself, “I don’t feel like I know my ‘true self’”? You may desire to show up differently but not sure where or how to begin. I assure you; these questions make complete sense to me, and I am here to work alongside you as we walk the path of discovering your inner wisdom and embodiment.

You’ve tried doing “the work” already. Therapy, self-help books, late-night Google rabbit holes... but something still feels stuck. Like no matter how hard you try, the same patterns keep repeating. Maybe it’s perfectionism that leads to procrastination, caregiving others that leaves you burnt out, or overthinking that robs you of time and rest. You’ve done therapy before, maybe even read all the self-help books. But the standard 50 minute session just hasn’t gotten to the root. You might be someone who’s deeply thoughtful, creative, or neurodivergent - someone who grew up feeling misunderstood or like your needs were too much.

Codependency Therapists
What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
