Some of my specific specialties are Trauma , PTSD , Depression; Bi-Polar D/O; Bullying, Addiction, and Adolescent/ Parenting Issues.
My therapeutic viewpoint is that all clients can change if they have a supportive therapist in a therapeutic environment that is conducive to change. Additionally, they must have the desire to change, set goals, and work on the skills needed outside of the counseling session to create lasting change.

My approach is relational, trauma -informed, and collaborative.
The journey of our 20s and 30s is challenging to travel alone. Often we are left feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, afraid, and wondering… Did I miss the class where they taught us how to navigate this road called life? Why does everyone else seem to know where they’re going and what they’re doing? Did I miss the exit? You are not alone in these thoughts, concerns, and the feeling of being stuck or paralyzed as to how to move forward. If you’re feeling like you’ve tried everything: a new career, a new city, or a new relationship to name a few, and you still feel like you’re missing something, it’s time to make a change!

I work with adults experiencing the impact of trauma , depression, anxiety, chronic illness, phase of life adjustment, and relationship issues.
We all have unique stories. Our pasts form us into who we are today, and oftentimes what once worked for us, no longer does. Therapy can help us gain the insight to understand our stories, but more importantly, help us to choose new ways of living and engaging with ourselves, others, and the world. In the context of a supportive relationship, we will work together to move towards a life that is more meaningful, satisfying, and free.

Does life constantly feel overwhelming? Do you have past or present trauma that seems to affect everything you think or do? Do you feel like your partner never listens to or understands you? Or does it feel like they just don’t care about you or your needs at all? These are all common experiences for individuals and couples. The good news is, there is hope and help. I can help you work through that trauma so it does not affect you constantly. I work with adults and couples to address issues including depression, anxiety, trauma , personality disorders, relational difficulties, and life transitions.
Relationships can both hurt and heal us. Because of this, I stress the importance of a strong, caring therapeutic relationship. In the context of that relationship, I encourage patients to discuss their feelings and experiences, both past and present. We then engage in a collaborative dialogue that allows for inquiry into why patients feel the way they do and what factors have influenced their development into who they are and how they experience life. In doing so, they can often feel better about themselves, their relationships, and their place in the world.

After many years as a psychotherapist working with adults, I’ve learned the best therapy is whatever encourages my clients to be curious about themselves and motivated to change what they really want to change while embracing what doesn’t need to change at all. Whether you are looking to work on anxiety, stress, family or relationship issues, work problems, trauma , sleep disorders, depression, or chronic illness – psychotherapy is a process that can help, and I will be happy to join you on that journey.

I have been serving survivors of trauma for over 23 years.
No matter how you are feeling, know that there is someone out here to support you, don't lose hope. I believe that we all have the innate ability to be well, regardless of race, sexual orientation or gender identification. Traumatic and challenging experiences in our lifes, can affect our nervous system, rendering us vulnerable, confused and at times stuck/frozen in fight and or flight responses to life. It would be an honor to assist you at recognizing and reclaiming your strength and true potential through gentle, mindful and regulated interventions that provide balance and peace.

My areas of expertise are treating depression, anxiety, grief and loss and trauma ( PTSD ).
We are born into mystery and we are on a spiritual quest to know ourselves more fully, to discover our life's purpose and to find our personal power. My therapeutic approach involves accompanying my clients on a journey of self-discovery and self-mastery. For, as Carlos Castaneda wrote, "We either make ourselves miserable or we make ourselves strong...the amount of work is the same." Ultimately, my goal is to be a mirror that reflects back to you your own innate goodness, strength and wisdom. We repeat what we don't repair. So, my job is to be a witness to your process of awakening the healer that's already present within you.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
