I am a Licensed Psychologist currently practicing in Washington DC with over 10 years of experience working in the field. I am also licensed in the states of Texas and Kansas, as well as certified to practice teletherapy with clients from 39 different states. I believe that without the development of self-awareness, change is difficult to make. I work to establish a warm and relaxed therapeutic environment to assist clients in learning more about themselves. I believe that this learning is necessary so that these positive changes can be sustained. I look forward to speaking with you and answering any questions that you might have.

Your treatment has a beginning, middle & end. I am trained and certified in many of the latest breakthrough treatments including EMDR and Brainspotting. I use these modalities because I have found them to be the most effective. The field of psychotherapy has come a long way since it began. We now know that it doesn't have to take as long as previously believed for permanent healing and change to take place. The term "neuroplasticity" refers to the brain's ability to change and rewire itself at any age or stage of life. Too often, clients participate in years of talk therapy and medication management without results.

Now accepting new Aetna clients! Being a human can be really hard sometimes. Maybe it’s hard because there’s an area in our lives where we struggle, like in our careers or relationships. Perhaps, we’ve experienced some painful times that we haven’t fully healed from or find ourselves engaging in problematic behaviors. Whatever our struggles, I’ve found that psychotherapy can help reduce our suffering and help connect us to the joy of being alive.

Therapy is where we ease loneliness and deepen connection with ourselves and others. Where we begin to feel safe and ready to make real and lasting change in our lives. Where we gain new understanding & awareness that guides us out of the place we're in, to the place we long to be.

Do you feel lost? Angry? Overwhelmed? Isolated? I'm here to help you. I am enthusiastic about working with women who are experiencing anxiety, depression, chronic illnesses, postpartum depression/anxiety, and navigating modern motherhood, and work-life "balance" (is there EVER really complete balance?). Intake sessions are only scheduled when ALL paperwork and insurance verification are completed. No exceptions made. I work with clients via telehealth ONLY at this time.

I look forward to working with clients that may be suffering with: substance abuse disorders or are dually diagnosed, anxiety, trauma, minority issues, relationship issues, self-esteem concerns, and stress management. I enjoy working with individuals who recognize the strength it takes to seek support and may need a therapeutic setting to challenge thoughts and habits that have been a barrier to their personal growth.

I hope to support you as a caregiver and your child on your journey. No matter how you got here, whether through adjustments, trauma, grief, attachment, divorce, anxiety or other mental health related challenges. I work with both caregiver and child/teen to establish realistic goals that don't lead to a perfect road but one that feels safe enough to travel. This means caregiver presence is important throughout the process as you both explore new ways of being.

The therapeutic process can be an amazing and enlightening experience if you're willing to look within. Through individual, couples and family/group psychotherapy, we provide clients with a non-judgmental, empathetic, safe space to gain self-awareness and insight. Together we can explore those life experiences that have been tucked away in the back of your mind that you've been avoiding for years. Having a supportive therapist can provide the security and support needed to deal with past traumas that when left unprocessed can change the way in which you navigate the world.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
