About

My passion is supporting parents! Are you exhausted from your child’s emotional meltdowns and refusals to do what you asked? Are you embarrassed by their public tantrums? I understand because I’ve been there myself. If your child refuses to follow directions, hits, bites, throws things, struggles with attention or is disruptive at school, won't sit still at mealtimes, or refuses to go bed time, I can help with Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Adoptive, foster and kinship families can especially benefit. Affirmative care is provided for LGBTQIA+ families. Your family constellation is understood, accepted, and celebrated.
Childhood disruptive behaviors are linked to later high school drop out, substance abuse, and even incarceration. But PCIT can help steer your child in the right direction. Developed through UC Davis Children’s Hospital and back by 40 years of research & 100's of studies, PCIT is the gold standard for treating disruptive behaviors in children ages 1-10.
PCIT teaches parents play therapy skills and behavior therapy skills that are nurturing and effective. You can become your child's own therapeutic specialist. In addition to 17 years of providing child mental healthcare services, I am also a certified PCIT International therapist. Let's work together to bring warmth, peace, and affection back to your home.

DC Hamilton, LMFT's Groups

Online Parent Supportive Groups

The Parent Support Therapy Groups are for parents of children ages 1-10 with behavioral challenges that do not respond to traditional parenting, like tantrums, screaming, hitting, or worries, fears and anxiety. The workshops are fun and interactive and held in an atmosphere of mutual support of parents who understand the struggle. Parents also learn the principles of Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), a treatment model that teaches nurturing and effective techniques to transform disruptive behaviors so that parents can regain a sense of calm and joy in everyday interactions with their children.
