Village Counseling Services offers the longest running comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program in central New Jersey. To uphold the integrity of the DBT treatment model, we feature a structured and selective intake process and all members of our DBT Consultation Team have been intensively trained. We provide our clients with intensive, individualized treatment by maintaining a small therapist-to-client ratio and by offering DBT skills training in small groups. Our DBT program offers several DBT skills groups per week providing services to children ages 9 to 13, adolescents ages 14 to 18, adults and family members.
DBT is a highly practical, evidence-based direct form of therapy which emphasizes working toward the life you want to live by integrating acceptance and change with cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and mindfulness. This approach is highly effective for those who have difficulty regulating intense emotions.

DBT at Village Counseling Services's Groups

Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Training Group

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a highly practical and direct form of therapy. DBT emphasizes working toward a life worth living by integrating mindfulness and acceptance with cognitive behavior therapy. Highly effective for adults and adolescents who have difficulty regulating or managing intense emotions. DBT validates the difficulty of having painful and intense emotions while also supporting your desire to make important behavioral changes. Many group participants suffer with Depression, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, OCD, other Anxiety Disorders and/or Borderline Personality Disorder. Program members are required to participate in weekly individual DBT therapy and strongly encouraged to use phone coaching.

More about this group

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

MBCT is enormously empowering for people who suffer repeated bouts of depression in their lives. It will help you understand what depression is, discover what makes you vulnerable to downward mood spirals and why you get stuck at the bottom of the spiral. It will help you see the connection between downward spirals and high standards that oppress us like feelings that we are simply "not good enough" and how we put pressure on ourselves or make ourselves miserable with overwork. Learn to get back in touch with what makes life worth living.
