Counseling, or therapy, is something that individuals enter for a variety of reasons and with differing goals. The similarity is that you want something different in your life because what you are currently feeling, or doing is no longer working for you. I have established A Step Forward Counseling, PLLC in order to provide easier access to counseling services for individuals who do want change. I approach each person I work with as a unique individual and allow their own understanding of themselves guide the therapeutic relationship.
I have worked with both adults and children, and within mental health, substance abuse and medical settings. I have been trained in Trauma-Informed Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Behavior Modification, Systems Theory, Developmental Theory, Attachment Theory and Ego-Psychology. In working with clients I draw from all of these aspects of my training.
I completed my Havening Certification in September, 2021 and am now a Certified Havening Techniques® Practitioner. Over the past few years as I have been utilizing these techniques I have found that it greatly facilitates the work that clients and I do together.
