Hello, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Davida Bolger. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 25 years of experience. My approach to therapy is developing a rapport, conveying empathy, and establishing a strong therapeutic alliance, based on mutual trust, honesty, and respect. It is my goal that clients feel safe to communicate their concerns and collaborate with me to develop an effective plan to achieve their goals and successful outcomes. I would have to say one reason I was attracted to this career is related to how much I enjoy listening to people, and learning about human behavior and various cultures.
I have worked with children, teens, adults, couples, and families with a wide variety of challenges including depressive, bipolar, anxiety, substance use, conduct, and co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance use). Since embarking on this path to learn to help people change, I can't think of any field that would be more fulfilling.
I create a warm, non-judgmental tone/environment that is conducive for clients to express their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Clients have verbalized that they feel I am fully present, with attentive listening skills, which say I care about them, I hear them, and I make every effort to understand and help them.
