More than 30 years of practice as a psychologist has taught me that true healing arrises within a deep and trusting relationship with each individual, couple and group with whom I work. My colleague Dr. Peter Wrycza calls this work "Conversations on the edge of silence" Our thinking mind is a marvelous tool when it is used appropriately. The deeper problem is that the thinking mind can keep us locked into our stories of either the past or the future. Much of the work is about exploring ways to become more present in life and release the historic patterns and beliefs that keep us stuck in the illusion of separation from one another.
Notice the stream of thoughts flowing through your brain that have no relevance to your awareness of what is happening right now. When we fight with our present experience we call ourselves anxious, depressed or any of the other labels. A wise Sage once said.."Give your mind to whatever comes and goes but give your heart to that which is always with you"
The thinking mind often blocks our experience of happiness, which I believe is our natural state of being.. Our work together would be to notice the silent space between our thoughts that holds the voice of loving kindness that constantly reminds us of our connection with all things and our moment to moment need to be merciful and forgiving of ourselves.
