I specialize in couples therapy, as I strongly believe that relationships are a core way we learn about ourselves; both the parts of us we like; as well as the parts we don't. When we're triggered by our partner, it's always an opportunity to learn about what still needs healing in ourselves. As we navigate life's stages, ALL of us will change...but in relationships, these changes don't always stay in sync, and that can feel stressful. Couples therapy is a way to recalibrate things; to upgrade our communication skills, rebuild our trust, grow our intimacy; and to create understanding and acceptance of our newfound differences.
As an experienced therapist, I'm trained in multiple modalities; and rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, I adapt to each couple's needs; and in some cases, each partner's needs. I also offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to help clients get a better sense of my personality before committing to an actual appointment.
I believe therapy works best when everyone engages as authentically as possible... and that includes myself (as the therapist). Thus, I'm an active and open therapist, that will take the risk to tell you what I'm thinking; however, if I challenge you, it will ALWAYS be in service of your OWN goals and rooted in a deep compassion and respect for your needs.
