I believe in the fundamental worth and unique strengths of every individual, and that an attention to these attributes is the bedrock of any helping relationship. I also believe that much of the emotional and relational struggles we suffer in life are born in experiences of pain through which we labored to survive, and that these laborings often limit us or become self-defeating later in life. The therapeutic relationship then becomes a space of uncovering, of pursuing self-knowledge, and of re-experiencing or re-learning authentic relationship through which healing, growth, and a sense of thriving can occur.
I have worked in a wide range of settings (e.g. college counseling centers, hospital wards, community clinics, group practices), granting me exposure to a breadth and depth of presenting concerns. I now work solely in private practice, serving adults in an individual psychotherapeutic format.
I embrace a wholistic paradigm which also accommodates the biological and - if desired - spiritual elements of personhood. Though a generalist, I have developed an increasing professional focus in working with individuals struggling with experiences of trauma & abuse, loss, various addictions, and/or the complex intertwining of identity & sexuality.
