I believe that the relationships that people share are a gift to humanity. I aim to help clients enjoy that gift to the fullest. What I bring to each session is therapeutic knowledge and experience, while the ideal clients bring the will to change. The combination of these elements provides the best chance for healing and growth. Passionately, I have found fulfillment and success assisting survivors of sexual trauma, verbal and physical abuse, and emotional manipulation. I help individual clients; yet many of the couples that I work with include one or both partners who seek help recovering from these experiences.
During years of providing counseling services, I have found fulfillment in couples therapy. When both partners are working toward the same goals, practical obstacles are opportunities for growth and understanding. Emotion can hinder progress, but it also can promote progress.
We love in difficult times. Doctoral studies on the models of marriage and family therapy confirmed and enhanced my perspectives on helping couples as well as individuals. My own approach today is an integration of several models, including Bowen Family Systems, Experiential, Christian family concepts, and Structural.
