Psychotherapy is a unique experience that involves building a new relationship with someone with the goal of working collaboratively to tackle issues of the human condition. Together, we will examine your thoughts and feelings in order to make sense of the difficulties you are experiencing. The way I work is different from some therapists as I believe it isn't enough to merely listen or be supportive. I want us to really figure out the source of what is troubling you and I don't feel successful in my work if I don't get to that kind of understanding with my patients. I specialize in couples therapy and unlike other therapists in this area, I do not deploy the tired/cliche approaches that tend to stymie progress in couples work. I don't follow the aging concepts like "Family Systems" that presumes all couples are somehow the same. Nothing is more unique than a relationship forged between 2 people.
Therapy will feel different with me because I'm a human who happens to be a therapist, not the other way around. All of my patients would agree that I definitively do not act or talk like a cliche therapist. It is my secret sauce. My patients actually look forward to coming. Isn't that how it should be? Change can & should be exciting and engaging.
