I work with adults from diverse backgrounds, especially in times of transition and uncertainty. My approach is relational, depth oriented and mind-body-Spirit focused. I draw from psychoanalytic theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and somatic therapies. In sessions, we work with memories, values, emotions, thoughts, body sensations, dreams and free associations to explore both conscious and unconscious material. I pay special attention to what is happening in the present moment of the sessions, while honoring the impact of important relationships, life circumstances and ancestral history.
Prior to my current practice, I've worked in wilderness therapy, residential treatment, community mental health, inpatient and outpatient mental health settings, and public education. In addition to a Master of Social Work from UNC Chapel Hill, I hold a Bachelor of Science in Outdoor Education with a concentration in Therapeutic Use of Adventure.
I've received psychoanalytic training through the Psychoanalytic Center of the Carolinas (PCC). I hold memberships in the PCC, the American Academy of Psychotherapists (AAP), the Jung Society of the Triangle, the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and the Association of Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS).
