I believe while therapists may be the experts of therapy, clients are the experts of themselves. Part of what this means is that you are responsible for your energy and direction of the treatment process. I will help you develop and facilitate your goals, and then you will be the one responsible for doing the work. This could mean there is work to be done between sessions, collaboration with other outside people, or opportunities to embrace difficult moments. Therapy is not about a “fix.” It is about healing and growth, both of which take time and effort. I believe most of you are hurting now. I honor and revere that.
I provide psychotherapy to people of all types. Some of my clinical passions are working with couple’s communication, people reprocessing their identities, LGBTQ+ community (incl. non-monogamous), spirituality, and older teens. Due to my extensive training, I am also effective doing therapy with other mental healthcare workers and generally high-achievers.
As part of Matone Counseling, I am part of a team of therapists where we can collaborate toward your best care as well, if you want that approach. The risks of discomfort and vulnerability are often necessary in therapy for the release and renewing of life. Lasting change is not about a single moment, but a series of moments. Come and be empowered.
