About
In my practice I specialize in providing therapy to couples, families, men and adolescent males. My work with couples helps with conflict due to recurrent communication problems, infidelity, financial stresses, intimacy, etc. With families, we address lack of closeness, external pressures, trauma, and changes from maturity of children. My style is interactive and direct. As an older male, I am readily able to help with relational, parenting and career challenges. Men require a therapist who has journeyed through the vagaries of life understanding the attendant joys and failures.
My experience in the mental health field includes a variety of settings, e.g. hospital behavioral health center, not-for-profit community center, and private practice. I incorporate emotionally focused therapy, family systems, attachment theory, positive psychology, CBT, DBT, mindfulness and relaxation skills.
I believe in meeting people where they are, accepting them and providing a non-judgmental place where they can be heard, understood, and respected. I am not out to fix people; rather to help them to find their own paths to the quality of life they choose as their own.
