I have felt some of these things too. Currently, I am a licensed professional clinical counselor in Kentucky with advanced training in Emotion-Focused Therapy for individuals and couples. I believe that sometimes a person can feel stuck and discouraged because of challenges with attachment, meaning that the way we relate to others has a lot to do with how we learned to function in relationships in our families of origin. My counselor education includes a specialization in couple and marriage counseling, a dissertation study on relationship repair after infidelity and advanced studies in treating addictions of substance and behavior. I have counseled children, adolescents and adults throughout the lifespan to help them discover their strengths and find peace within.
I work with clients to create a climate of acceptance and understanding, attending to their issues by helping them resource their strengths and values. To attend is about being present, listening to understand, accepting the client as their own autonomous person, while providing the care and support they deserve.
