I work from a Narrative Theoretical Lens, which means that I believe the stories we tell are reflective of the life we are living. I also engage in an integrative approach and I pull from many different therapeutic techniques. I welcome all clients, and provide an empathetic, warm space to assist in working through traumatic event, gaining better stress management and coping skills, or just someone to process some of life's toughest moments. My 1 year old West Highland Terrier, Bentley the Pawfessional joins our sessions and animal assisted interventions are used throughout the session.
I am experienced in treating depression, anxiety, and trauma symptoms. I also have worked with clients to implement better stress management and coping skills, assisted clients cope with anger, sadness, and panic attacks. I enjoy working with under-served populations. I also supervise two counseling interns allowing me to increase my availability.
I specialized in LGBTQIA+ studies throughout my higher education. I have experienced firsthand issues and concerns which are unique to the LGBTQIA+ community, knowledge which no book can teach. Because of this knowledge and experience, I am considered an expert in the field of LGBTQIA+ counseling.
