I often tell the true story that when I was in elementary school my classmates would take turns coming to me at recess to share with me the things they were struggling with. I went to our first family computer and made Mickey Mouse business cards that said Dr. Dan on them. I am (and always have been) deeply honored to hear people's struggles, disappointments, dreams, and hopes and to journey with anyone who is seeking a safe space to process whatever they are going through.
My dissertation was on working with couples and I love working with couples in therapy. I also see adult individuals working through topics including grief, relationship difficulties, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, anxiety, perfectionism, men's issues, anger, postpartum depression and "baby blues," life changes, social anxiety, and addiction in a case by case basis.
Before becoming a psychologist, I received a M.A. in theology from the University of Notre Dame. Many devoted Catholics and Christians work with me because they want to integrate their faith into their counseling experience. About half of my clients, however, are not religious and I am honored to work respectfully with people of all backgrounds.
