My goal is to help people get better, heal, grow, and change. I believe about 1/3 of clients seeking help want help and are motivated to do the work to get better. I believe that 1/3 of clients say they want help but are not motivated and don't do the work necessary to get better while the other 1/3 come for counseling only at the insistence of someone else. I see my job as helping clients to see which group they fall in while respecting those who don't want/choose help.
I see therapy as a progressive process that intervenes at 1.) first the biological/physical level, 2.) second the symptomatic on an anxiety/depressive management level, and 3.) third the interpersonal relational level.
I am a human being. I am a Christian. I am a psychologist. I am direct, educative, confrontational, and understand standard of care principles. I see the human relationship as essential to the therapeutic process. I like challenging, difficult people to work with.
