Our name “Dando Luz” literally translates to “give light,” and can also be interpreted to mean “to give birth.” This encapsulates how we would like to support you. What do you want to "give birth" to or bring into existence? Do you want to bring more light in the form of insight, self-awareness and clarity into your life? What areas of your life would you like to illuminate? What would you like to uncover and nurture in your life? These are big questions to answer. The process of therapy can help identify what this may look like for you.
We have a deep appreciation for our roots and ancestors, while recognizing that we are tasked with deciding what path we take as individuals to heal ourselves, and by extension our family (chosen or not) and communities. We use the practice of cultural humility to guide us. Our focus is centered on providing support to individuals who identify as BIPOC.
We view the process of therapy as collaborative and an equal partnership with you. This means that your direct life experiences, values, and insights are integral to developing a sense of direction towards the goal that you envision for yourself.
