I treat children with symptoms of attention and learning challenges including anxiety and sensory concerns. The modality I use is Developmental Movement Therapy and Primitive Reflex Integration which are Somatic approaches that focus on addressing the root of symptoms rather than teaching accommodations or coping mechanisms. Treatment sessions are fun, movement based and "home play" is offered to parents to as a way of engaging and supporting your child between sessions.

I have specific training in the treatment of trauma, and am furthering my education in dance/movement therapy which is a more integrative, embodied approach to mental health.
I believe good therapy involves having a positive healing experience that includes your whole self and can be translated to your everyday life. I utilize creative approaches along with concrete tools to assist your body, mind and spirit with building a greater sense of safety and calm, leading to growth and connection with self and others. I especially welcome families or individuals navigating growth and change; parents of children with chronic health needs; couples seeking greater connection in their relationship; or individual adults seeking body-centered care for trauma, anxiety, or depression.

I welcome the unfiltered essence of You. I enjoy working with couples, polycules, and families. As an immigrant, I am passionate about issues regarding ambiguous loss and intergenerational trauma. I practice through a non-pathologizing lens that respects the social and environmental context of your experience. Using Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral, and Attachment theories, I work collaboratively with your past and explore how it informs your present. Together, we can take inventory of ideologies you want to keep, and shed those that were passed down to you without your consent.

I am a Latinx bilingual licensed psychologist dedicated to supporting people from diverse cultural and economic background as they cultivate their own resilience building practices. I use my experience working with patients to determine how to best facilitate the development of a healthy mind/body. The human psyche is beautifully complicated. It can create for us moments of exhilarating joy and excruciating pain. The key to maximize joy and minimize pain is very different for each individual. It is important to have a wide range of resilience building practices to draw from in order to create individualized self-care plans.

As a somatic, trauma-informed, and person-centered therapist, I take a holistic approach to therapy. My clients tend to have a history of complex trauma that impacts both their relationships with others and their relationship with themselves. I'll support you in uncovering underlying patterns and finding relief from experiences such as relationship issues, depression, anxiety, and feelings of low self-worth, as well as help you move through life with patterns that feel more aligned with your goals. From a somatic perspective, I safely incorporate body awareness on the path towards greater self-confidence and empowerment.

I specialize in Dance/Movement Therapy, Body Psychotherapy, and EMDR Therapy, somatic modalities that foreground your body as a teacher and guide in your therapy process.
New openings for group therapy clients only. I am not currently accepting new individual therapy clients. Welcome to my page! I'm so curious what brought you here... Are you an activist, healer or CAREgiver and healing yourself is part of your calling? Has your BODY called upon you to heal through sensation, movement, and creativity? Maybe your ART pushes you to transform complex pain into a wellspring of power and creativity? Or maybe you are an “in-betweener” in some way and you long for WHOLEness in an often-fragmenting world? I would love to help you move through any stuck points and witness you naturally unfold your GIFTS.

Movement and contemplation are medicine. The combination of exercise and mindfulness reduces over-thinking and depressive symptoms while improving sleep. This is why I practice Movement Therapy. There is a well-established scientific link between our well-being and how physically active we are. When we are moving, we release endorphins to increase our mood and lower stress. Movement Therapy incorporates mindfulness, yoga, and running or walking so you can live a happier and healthier life. Our sessions together will help you work through your feelings in a natural and restorative way.

I combine a health and wellness approach to counseling while integrating innovative technology, art, music/movement with a mindfulness-based approach.
Uncertainty and stress are a part of everyone’s life, but when these stressors impact your mind and body to the point of interfering with daily life, it is important to address those negative thought patterns, problem behaviors or past trauma that continue to get in the way of becoming your best self. It is my goal to offer non-judgmental support as you learn to develop positive coping skills, challenge unhelpful thoughts/behaviors and let go of old patterns that keep you stuck. Explore the benefits of blending integrative counseling techniques with health & wellness coaching to help you achieve lasting lifestyle change.

My clients have described me as thoughtful, empathetic, wise, and funny. I am not a bobble-head that will nod along to anything you say and just keep asking you, "and how does that make you feel?" I'm engaged, I'm funny, and I'm direct. I'm kinda like hard candy. I'm sweet and I can deliver challenging things when needed. With creativity and humor, I will guide you to explore other paths and options. I operate from a holistic lens, welcoming the all aspects of you and your family, including sexual orientation, gender expression, racial and cultural messages, religion and spirituality into the therapeutic exploration.

Do you notice your body alternating between being ready to fight a hoard of zombies or being mistaken for one? Are feelings from past pain overwhelming you at inopportune times despite doing everything you can to avoid remembering those experiences? Have you noticed feelings of unexplained shame, paralysis, frustration, with the occasional dash of self abandonment? Are you disappointed that catastrophizing isn’t an Olympic sport because planning for the worst case scenario of every situation is your jam?

Dance Movement Therapy

What can I expect from dance/movement therapy?

During dance therapy, the therapist will guide the client through dance movements that metaphorically represent a particular challenge, reflect their internal emotional state, or otherwise express physically what is happening for the client mentally. The therapist may “mirror” the client’s movements or simply observe. The client may be encouraged, as they dance, to pay attention to their breath or other physical sensations. Afterward, the therapist and client will often debrief to help the client process the experience.

Is dance/movement therapy evidence-based?

A small body of research has found that dance therapy can help treat conditions like depression, PTSD, anxiety, and eating disorders, as well as nonclinical issues like low self-esteem or family conflict. However, some experts caution that the evidence in favor of dance therapy is not as robust as that of other, more established therapies, and some of the published research is of low quality. Many recommend that dance therapy be used as a complementary rather than stand-alone treatment.

Can dance therapy help with depression?

Some research suggests that dance/movement therapy can aid in the treatment of depression, especially when combined with other therapies; some studies, for example, report that dance therapy combined with antidepressants or talk therapy is more effective than those treatments alone. The positive effects of dance therapy may come from the movement itself, as it’s well-known that physical activity can improve mood and bolster motivation in those struggling with depression.

What are the limitations of dance therapy?

People with disabilities or other conditions that hinder movement may find it more challenging to participate in dance therapy, though a well-trained therapist will take a client’s physical limitations into account when designing a treatment plan. Experts also warn that certain conditions, particularly eating disorders, should never be treated with dance therapy alone; it may, however, be used as an adjunct therapy.
