I want to put you at ease about beginning therapy, and give you confidence that together we can find best ways to address the needs you bring to counseling. I'm hopeful that even though you don't feel your best, you'll begin to feel relief. Though every person's need are unique, and though I can't make promises about the time it'll take to begin experiencing improvement in symptoms, I'm optimistic that we can find solutions.
The best treatment is the one that helps you. To this end, I use a variety of evidence based interventions. EMDR interventions work best for a variety of trauma based issues. Relationship issues typically respond best to Gottman based interventions. Experiences of loss are helped by emotional validation and gentle exploration of coping strategies.
I remember going to counseling as a teenager. Half the battle getting there was my larger than life fearful imagination about what it would be like to tell another person my problems. If this is you, I understand. Reality is. Counseling is safe place to talk about what matters most to you.
