Folks often tell me that therapy doesn't work for them, however there are many types of therapists and many kinds of approaches to therapy. Sometimes it takes a few tries to find someone that is a good fit for your needs! I have been working in Social Work for 9 years spanning fields such as immigrant and refugee work, HIV case management, housing case management, child welfare, and psychiatric hospital care. I have experience working with individuals with anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and in non-traditional relationships. Additionally, I identify within and have experience working with folks in the LGBTQ+/Queer community.
My social work practice’s foundation lies in Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but also incorporates components of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Collaborative Problem Solving. Therapy is not one size fits all! I believe in person-centered and trauma-informed approaches.
Thank you for taking the first step in your therapy journey and your willingness to involve me in the process! Please feel free to request a free 15 minute consultation to see if we are a good match!
