Therapy is a rare opportunity to be profoundly understood by another person. The more we feel understood, the more we are able to untangle the emotional and interpersonal knots that lead us into treatment in the first place. While diagnostic categories are often useful, each person has to be understood within the context of their life history and the emotional convictions that shape their experience.
I have treated a wide range of individuals in a hospital setting (Mount Sinai Medical Center), a community mental health center (Metropolitan Center for Mental Health), a parent-child group (The Bernard L. Pacella, MD Parent Child Center), and in private practice.
I have been practicing Buddhist meditation since 1994 and I have a special interest in Buddhism and its relationship to psychotherapy/psychoanalysis. In addition, I have both personal and professional experience working with Lyme disease and other chronic illnesses. Lastly, I have completed specialist training in the emerging field of neuropsychoanalysis.
