"I help individuals and couples create and sustain the positive changes they seek in their lives. I provide a supportive environment for clients to practice skills designed to enhance personal, relational, and professional satisfaction. I help people who are hurting after the loss of loved ones and difficult changes in their life. For example, death of a spouse, divorce, parenting challenges, and workplace stress. Additionally, I am familiar with the challenges of military families, deployment, and first responders. The unique cultural challenges of these groups and how therapy can help normalize and reduce mental distress for families and individuals."

"Often the very ways we learn to cope with fear, sadness, or wounding in our relationships may inadvertently move us further from the closeness and connection we seek. Sometimes, this manifests in our lives as depression or anxiety. Other times, it shows up in our relationships themselves, through patterns of attraction to individuals who are more likely to cause pain, or through cycles of conflict, loneliness, misunderstanding, and a fear of closeness or abandonment. Psychotherapy provides a safe context in which we can begin to understand these issues and, over time, experience a deep sense of healing. "

"In today's world there are many stresses: home, school, work, relationships, and navigating all the pieces of our busy lives. If you are experiencing worry, sadness, anxiety, depression, mood swings, or anger that is too big or too constant, you may need a quiet, compassionate listener who can help you reduce your discomfort. I work from a place of wellness and growth, not illness. I will help you understand your challenges in ways that give you the ability to work with your (or your family's) concerns. You can change what needs changing, and keep what works well in your life."

"Seeking therapy is a brave and vulnerable step. My specialty is counseling women who are strong, but feel weighed down by trauma, perfectionism, anxiety, depression, and self worth. Perhaps you are searching here because something feels broken in your life: relationships are disconnected, a story haunts you from the past, or emotions are overwhelming. Perhaps you are running from some hidden grief or rejection, and you feel restless or wounded as a result. I can help. You are not alone, and you don't have to stay stuck. Through sessions together you will learn compassion for yourself, which empowers healthier relationships."

"Is worry ruining your life? Are you and your partner wondering if you should stay together? Often people seek answers through therapy and eventually feel more in control of their lives and experience less stress. If you resist counseling because you are uncomfortable talking about personal problems to someone you don't know, I can make it easier by asking questions and listening carefully to what you say. I want you to feel satisfied with the counseling experience, so I'll work with you to establish your goals. My studio setting is homey and relaxed."

"A favorite quote of mine is "A person's a person, no matter how small" - Dr. Suess. What I take from this is to treat others with humanity and respect, despite age, life difficulties or choices made. I predominantly work with children, adolescents, families and young adults who present with a variety of presenting difficulties. I do enjoy working with adults and couples as well. I have vast experience in working with all populations and am a safe place for all. I approach therapy from a systems perspective, rooted in attachment theory. I believe we are developed out of our experiences and interactions with those in our lives."

"First, I believe it is my duty to be able to actively listen to my client, obtain a good understanding of where they are and where they want to go. Together, we will move you and/or your team or organization in the desired direction to reach your goals. As a young man growing up in North Chicago, I quickly learned that life is full of rewards and upsets, if I allowed it to happen. At 3 months old, I was abandoned by my mother, left inside of a garbage can in an alley waiting to die. However, life had other plans for me. A passerby heard my faint cries and pulled me from the garbage can. Later, I was adopted but went on to experience years of physical and emotional abuse by my adopted mother. At the age of 12, I ran away from home and was placed in foster care. I was adopted again, but I experienced more mental and physical abuse. I dropped out of the 9th grade and began running away again. At the age of 16, the authorities declared me an emancipated teenager. With a story like mine, you would probably think there was no hope for finding happiness or for finding quality of life. However, I have learned to use my negative experiences as a testimony to reach out and help others. "

"Our relationships and connections to others are the foundation of our wellness as human beings. Therapy is the perfect platform to strengthen relationships to promote lasting positive changes, find clarity, repair, and recover. When we are feeling disconnected from important people in our lives it can seem our world is crumbling around us. At times we may feel disappointed, let down, we are not measuring up, or not feeling fully accepted or valued. Maybe you are experiencing sadness, anxiety, or anger. Maybe you are wanting to improve or strengthen your relationship and personal wellbeing. Therapy can help with these and more."
