Good grief. I do not envy anyone scrolling through these profiles! Fact is, life is hard and can feel overwhelming. People disappoint us, and truth be known, we disappoint ourselves. It can feel like we are caught up in repeating the same dysfunctional patterns over and over. The good news is, if you’ve noticed this and are sick of it, you might be ready to face your demons more honestly and constructively. I often describe good therapy as being simply a safe place to discover these patterns (while also learning that we have a resistance and a reluctance to be free of them).
My job is to listen, and call attention to distortions. These ARE the same patterns as ever, no? I hope (if the above applies to you) to be your collaborator, resource and ally. We'll work on these recurring habits, themes & patterns. Anyone who seriously attempts this will gain some new truths, increased efficiency and augmented self-awareness.
I use some CBT, but mostly dynamic, analytic, relational techniques. Ultimately, our goal is self-acceptance- with a radical acceptance of reality. Sessions are in a quiet 18th century farmhouse.
