Family Therapy & Consultation Services provides individual therapy, family therapy, marriage counseling, art therapy and medication management at our NJ offices in Woodbury, Audubon, & Moorestown. I am very excited that you are taking the next step in your healing journey! My name is Dr. MD and I am a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with over 15 years of clinical experience and training. I received my family therapy training at Drexel University where I received my doctorate degree. Since then, I have worked in a wide variety of settings, equipping me with a wealth of knowledge and experience helping clients deal with various challenges.

I received my Master of Social Work with a concentration in clinical work with children and families from Monmouth University. I have worked in the mental health field for well over a decade and have been a practicing therapist just shy of 10 years.

I support the change process whether it relates to such issues as substance abuse,marital problems, poor communication in the family, depression or anxiety. I offer practical strategies to cope with every day life such as anger management techniques, assertiveness skills training, and communication and relaxation techniques.

Barbara is a Licensed Professional Counselor in NJ and PA, and a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor in NJ. Barbara earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Temple University and received her master’s degree from Chestnut Hill College in Counseling and Clinical Psychology. Barbara’s approach is warm, encouraging, and collaborative. She has experience working with adults in early and long-term recovery. Barbara practices trauma-informed counseling and has experience working with clients who are survivors of childhood sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, mental abuse, and neglect.

Addiction is a debilitating and progressive disorder that can effect anyone. If not addressed, addiction will eventually impact life in all areas, including loved ones. I specialize in treating addictive disorders of every type (including behavioral) and every stage of progression, as well as co-occurring disorders, and working with couples. I have worked with individuals needing early intervention to those needing support in maintaining their recovery, as well as those in between. I believe strongly in the benefit of incorporating family and loved ones into treatment whenever possible and appropriate.

I work best with individuals in which are internally motivated for change, looking to work collaboratively alongside the individual to explore depression, anxiety, PTSD/trauma, substance abuse, and much more. My approach to therapy is person-centered, focused on offering a compassionate, yet straightforward approach to growth, which encourages individuals to think deeper and build connections that will assist them with a better understanding of the underlying issues. I believe in creating and modeling a healthy human connection to make those feel safe as possible in a time for many that can feel vulnerable.

I have four main specialty areas: Relationship Therapy - I love working with people in relationships that are struggling.
