One size never fits all. Using a collaborative approach, I work to help clients identify goals and areas for change. Building on your unique strengths and resilience, we will work to integrate and enhance skills needed to manage anxiety, depression, stress, and relationship and sexual issues. My goal is to help clients explore past interpersonal patterns and relational dynamics in a safe therapeutic setting, in order to create more positive and fulfilling experiences for the future. Additionally, I use psycho-education to deepen an understanding of healthy communication skills, boundary management, emotion regulation and increased distress tolerance.
Therapists, nurses, physicians, social workers and others in the medical and healing professions face demanding and challenging work, and we are vulnerable to burn-out, secondary trauma, and compassion fatigue. We will explore workplace issues unique to helping professionals, and use mindfulness-based and related approaches for stress reduction and to enhance coping skills.
In addition to being a psychotherapist, I am also a professional artist, and sensitive to the unique challenges facing creative professionals. My approach includes visual thinking and a focus on process to address issues such as creative blocks, negative self-concept and inhibiting criticism, dealing with rejection, and accepting success.
